Elaine Porter

Elaine Porter was born on August 12, 1925 in Beaumont, Texas to Searcy and Blanche Peoples. She was the fifth of seven children. She stepped into heaven on April 21, 2023.

Elaine was a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas and a graduate of Beaumont High School. She married the love of her life, Walter Porter, Sr. on September 25, 1946. They had three children, Walter Jr. “Bill”, Carolyn, and Keith. Elaine was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont where she spent many years teaching 2-year-old Sunday School.

Elaine was also proud to serve her community as a member of the Baptist Hospital Volunteer service. She went faithfully every Monday afternoon for over nine years and invested almost two thousand hours. She started her service after the death of her husband. Elaine’s greatest joys in life were serving her Lord and Savior, her church, and her family.

She is survived by her children, Bill Porter and his wife, Sparky, of Beaumont, Carolyn Pierson of Beaumont; and Keith Porter and his wife, Leeanna, of League City; seven grandchildren, Michelle Rullman and her husband, Pete; Elizabeth Graff and her husband Michael; Amanda Rosendahl and her husband, Eric; Nikki Pierson; Jeremy Pierson and his wife, Amanda; Levi Porter; and Patrick Pierson; twelve great-grandchildren; Ryan Rullman, Trent Rullman, Zachary Graff (U.S Air Force), Nicholas Graff, Raylen Pierson, Carter Pierson, Maison Pierson, Elaine Rosendahl, William Henry Rosendahl, Josh Tidwell, Jacob Tidwell, and Miles Porter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Walter Porter; brothers,

Ernest Peoples and his wife, Ruth, and Wilburn Peoples and his wife, Velma; sisters, Leola Hawthorne and her husband, Elliot; “Pete” Richardson and her husband, Bill; Doris Fehrmann and husband, Zane; Louise Walters and her husband, James; and her son-in-law, Ray Pierson.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church for the Elaine Porter Memorial (for missions) at Beaumont at 3550 Dowlen Rd Suite A, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

A gathering of Mrs. Porter’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2023, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Broussard’s, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
