Elester VanPelt Pryor

January 30, 1925 - March 31, 2020

Elester VanPelt Pryor, 95, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020.  She was born on January 30, 1925, in Blox, Texas, to Cora Cooper VanPelt and Henry Manson VanPelt.

Survivors include her children, Noel Pryor and his wife, B.J., of Spurger; Pat Pryor and his wife, Janet, of Brookland; and Cheryl Jones and her husband, David, of Evadale; grandchildren ,Bridget Guidry and husband, Dean; Cody Royer and wife, Jenny; Beverly Pryor; Amber Barrington and husband, Dallas; Carman Hinson and husband, Courtney; Charman Balla and husband, Brian; Chrystan Pryor; Weston Pryor and wife, Leslie; Helen Waguespack and husband, Shawn;  twenty-three great-grandchildren; and sister, Pansy Moulder and husband, Kenneth, of Colmesneil.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nolan Lewis Pryor; son, Rickey Pryor; and numerous siblings.

She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1982 after many years of service.  She treasured her friends with the Silsbee Garden Club where she was a lifetime member; she took great pride and loved working in her yard.  She enjoyed traveling with her friends in the states as well as Ireland, Scotland, and Switzerland.  As a dedicated volunteer, Elester gave countless hours of her time over the years as an Ombudsman, also volunteered with M.H.M.R., at The Silsbee Public Library, The Sunshine Resale Shop, and the H.O.S.T. Program in the Silsbee Public Schools.  She adored her family and cherished all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Elester loved her church and worshipping with friends and family.

A graveside service for Mrs. Pryor will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2020, at Magnolia Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
