Elizabeth Ann Pound

November 22, 1923 - August 23, 2024

Elizabeth Ann Pound was born on November 22, 1923 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Guy and Malinda Williams. She was the fourth and last child to join the family. She had two older brothers, Hebert and Arthur, and a beloved sister, Esther Mae. Elizabeth attended school in Woodward and continued her education at the local Junior College. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Jack Kennedy Pound, who also lived in Woodward. Even with WWll going on, Elizabeth and Jack were determined to marry. Jack was stationed at Minter Air Force Base in Bakersfield, California, as an Air Force Pilot. Elizabeth hopped on a train and traveled from Oklahoma to California by herself. They were married on October 16, 1943 at the base chapel. Through the years Elizabeth continued to support her husband in all his endeavors and pursuits by caring for their two children and their home. Mealtimes always found the four of them gathered at the same table.

The Pounds moved to Wildwood in 1980 after living in Pasadena, Texas; Vienna, Virginia; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and back to Vienna. When looking for somewhere to live in Texas, they fell instantly in love with Wildwood. They immediately joined everything and volunteered where needed. Elizabeth lost her beloved, Jack in 1985 to kidney disease. She was encouraged to move somewhere closer to her children, but she felt safe in Wildwood and remained until February 2022 when she moved to assisted living in Beaumont.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Stephen Ray Pound and his wife, Janie, of Texas City; and by her daughter, Jacqueline Davis, of Wildwood. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Christina Perez, of Texas City; Kathryn Davis Cooke, of Richmond; Tommy Davis, Jr., of Biloxi; Ron Davis, of Cypress; and Don Davis, of Freeport. Also surviving are many great grandchildren, great-great grands, and a niece, Malinda Sue Eggleston, of Oklahoma City.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pound; her parents; siblings; son-in-law, Tommy Davis, Sr.; grandson, Brett Davis; grandson-in-law, Chris Cooke; and nephews, Lucky Williams and Toby Weber.

Services for Mrs. Pound will be at the Wildwood Community Church, Village Mills, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and a service at 11:00 a.m., under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Liz. She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church in Wildwood for many years. Even as her health began to decline she would still attend services when she was able. To Jackie and the family our sincere condolences. Liz will be missed by all that knew her.
