Elizabeth “Betty” Linscomb
Elizabeth “Betty” Linscomb, 93, of Beaumont, died Monday, August 23, 2021. She was born on September 24, 1927, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Dorothea Scovall Brewster and Marvin Carl Brewster. Betty enjoyed working in her flower bed, playing bridge, hanging out with the girls, and traveling with her husband. She was a social butterfly.
Survivors include her husband of seventy-four years, James Linscomb, of Beaumont; son, Craig Linscomb and his partner, James McFaddin, of Houston; daughter, Carolyn Sue Little, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Chrissy and her husband, Adam, Tiffany and her husband, Kevin, and James and his wife, Maureen; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Alanah, Brianna, and Brian.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Martha Dickinson; and brothers, James “Jim” and Jess Brewster.
A cremation will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Betty was a very caring person who was always there when times were good as well as difficult. She was a great friend to my mother and was present to help our family during my mother’s illness. I have always thought of her as someone who truly cared.
Betty worked with my mother, Mary Hidalgo, at Sears. Betty was very special to my mother and me. Betty and James were most helpful and supportive when we lost my brother-in-law, Frank Rinando. They were true followers of Christ. Love and prayers to all of you.
My thoughts and prayers for all the family members. She was my Aunt Betty Jo. I am one of the twin daughters of her brother Richard Jess Brewster. I also remember the swing in her backyard as a child on visits with my grandparents.

Deepest sympathy is extended to James, Craig, Sue and Betty’s other family members. It was my privilege to be a neighbor of Betty and her family many years ago. My condolences to the family. Mrs. Linscomb was my supervisor at my first job at the old Sears in downtown Beaumont. We worked in the drapery and linen department, and she taught my then 17 year self old how to properly fold towels and measure a window for drapes – skills that are still appreciated today! Aunt Betty (my father was James Brewster) was one of the very best people I have ever had the pleasure to know. As children, my sister and I knew her as the fun aunt — always up for a ride on a swingset, or with an extra cookie or two. As an adult, I saw the woman who did the heavy lifting — visiting the sick, donating blood until she finally got so old they wouldn’t take it any more, and cooking an entire Thanksgiving dinner for my mother and father when Mother got home from rehab after a debilitating stroke. Not only did she cook this meal, she cooked it in Beaumont, drove it to Dallas, served it up, and drove back to Beaumont in the same day — and she was in her sixties at the time! She did everything with a twinkle in her eye that never faded.
I can’t even comprehend the loss Uncle James, Sue and Craig feel today. My Aunt Betty was one of the people I admired most in the world, and my prayers are with all of those touched by this remarkable woman.
I remember growing up in the neighborhood, seeing Ms Betty walking very fast paced all the time.
I worked with her at the old Sears downtown too.
She had the most comical sense of humor, loved to laugh and make people laugh.
May you all have peace and comfort knowing she is resting with Jesus.

Betty was one of my mother’s (Martha Smith) favorite friends. She was such a sweet person, as is her husband James. I have special memories of them both from St. Paul’s church. Condolences to her family and friends.

Grandmother was my angel on this Earth and is now my angel in Heaven. She was the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She taught me so many things in life and made me the cook I am today. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
She was a funny lady. I am so sorry for the families loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
