Elois Ruth Williams

October 28, 1940 - May 1, 2026

Elois Ruth Williams, 85, a longtime resident of Hamshire, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026. She was born on October 28, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1977, Elois and her husband, Curley, moved their family to Hamshire, where she remained for the rest of her life.

Elois was lovingly known by many names-Grandmother, Granny, Big Granny, and “Gma” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and her home, and she found joy in hobbies such as sewing, painting, crocheting, and quilting. Elois worked for Independent Refinery Corporation (IRC) until its closure, after which she continued her career at Region V Education Service Center, where she retired in 2003.

Survivors include her children, Denise Smith and husband Ernest, Michael Williams and wife, Rosanna, Darren Williams and wife, Rena, and Marshall Williams and wife, Kristin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chrystal Hein and husband, Chad, Ryan Donaldson, Mike Smith and fiancé, Crystal Williams, Gwendolynn Tyree and husband, Zac, Adelina Williams and fiancé,  Jaxon, Madison Williams, Daniel Williams, Taylor Williams, Maecy Williams, Gia Williams and fiancé, Erick Zuniga, Geory Williams, and Gage Walker; as well as her great-grandchildren, Thomas Hein and wife, Abegayle, Mason Hein, Aliyah Rosas, Coy Cranfill, Aiden Williams, Jaycie Williams, Sarah Smith, Sean Smith; and great-great-grandchildren, Jetson Hein and Hayes Hein. Elois is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Elois was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelmena Augusta and James Edward Scrivener; her beloved husband, James “Curley” Alford Williams; and her sister, Carolyn Garcia.

A gathering of Ms. William’s family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Broussard’s, 134 Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Broussard Cemetery, Broussard cemetery road, Hamshire.
