Elwin “Lynn” Sanders

Elwin “Lynn” Sanders, 80, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, with his family by his side.

Lynn was born on September 19, 1944, in Beaumont, to Juanita Woods Sanders and Chester Sanders. Lynn was raised in Nederland and graduated from Nederland High School in 1963. He proudly served in the Navy from 1962 to 1968. It was during this time, Lynn met the love of his life, Madeleine, whom he married in 1968. Together, they started their family, welcoming three beautiful daughters and raising them in Lumberton. Lynn worked for Kansas City Southern Railways from 1968 until his retirement in 1998.

He was known for his unwavering love & devotion for his family & friends, his passion for gardening & the outdoors, and his dedication to serving at his church. His family was his biggest source of joy. The beautiful relationship he had with his wife was an inspiration. He could be counted on for any need by family or friend. The love he had for his family was immense, and they loved him even more in return. His garden always produced a variety of food that he happily shared with others. Like his father’s, his tomatoes were the best around. Not one to stay idle or focus on himself, he found happiness in helping others. Serving at church, highlighted his love for Jesus and inspired many. He was a cherished member of his church family.

Lynn was respected and admired by family, friends, and colleagues. Lynn’s life touched so many and he will be remembered for his loving ways, kindness, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Madeleine Sanders; children, Lynnette Rodgers and her husband, Shane, of Lumberton; Rana Glover and her husband, Rob, of Gilbert, Arizona; and Jamie Cullen of Lumberton; grandchildren, Marc Rodgers and his wife, Jessica, of Dickinson; Tyler Cullen of Anchorage, Alaska; Garrett Glover of Gilbert, Arizona; Talynn Bridgers and her husband, Dylan, of Silsbee; and Grayson, Gage, and Reagan Glover, all of Gilbert, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Blaine Bridgers, Lucas Rodgers, and Noah Bridgers. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, uncle, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Kay Robichaux and Lona Dials.

A gathering of Mr. Sanders’ family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Parkway life Church, Lumberton. His interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Buna.

    It was such a joy to meet up again with Lynn at Parkway. He and I grew up in the same neighborhood of Central Gardens. Lots of great memories of him and his family. May God be with all of you during this difficult time. My prayers are with you and have been since I learned he was sick.
