Emerson Lawrence Leger, Sr.

December 23, 1943 - October 19, 2024

Emerson Lawrence Leger, Sr., 80, of Groves, died Saturday, October 19, 2024. He was born on December 23, 1943, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Eunice LaBouve Seamons and Obrey  Leger.

Mr. Leger enjoyed his dogs, especially “Little Girl”, his favorite. She rode with him everywhere. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always enjoyed his afternoon toddy. Later in life, he liked doing his own yard work. Even at age 79, he was going strong.

Survivors include his partner, Juanita Perales; sons, Larry Leger and his wife, Debbie; Scott Leger and his wife, Angie; and Michael Leger and his spouse, Charles; daughter, Laurie Johnson and her husband, Mike; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Rollins; sisters, Judy, JoAnn, Mary, Cindy, and Donna; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Homer Leger, Sr.; and sisters, Brenda Manuel and Kathy Roberts.

A memorial service for Mr. Leger will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the American Legion Post #179, 1403 West Napoleon Street (Highway 90 West), Sulphur, Louisiana. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
