Ernest “Captain” Godchaux

Ernest “Captain” Godchaux, 75, of Port Arthur, died Tuesday, December 16, 2025. He was born on November 25, 1950, to Edith William Godchaux and Nicholas Godchaux, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Survivors include his sons, Bobby McLemore and his wife, Kristen, of Mont Belvieu, Ernest Nicholas Godchaux and his wife, Katelyn of Beaumont; Timothy Godchaux and his wife, Bonnie, of Lumberton, Jake Manuel of Kirbyville, Jeffery Manuel and his wife, Deanna, of Lumberton, and Joey McLemore and his wife, Molly, of Beaumont; brothers, Steward Phillips and his wife, Yolanda, of Port Sulphur, Louisiana and Bruce Phillips and his wife, Carla; and sisters, Carolyn Godchaux and Robin Phillips, all of Diamond, Louisiana; and grandchildren, Maddie McLemore, Kaiden Jones, Corbin Godchaux, Carden Godchaux, Jordan Godchaux, Dylan Lytle, Ethan Manuel, Alex Manuel, Alana Manuel, Logan Manuel, Aiden Manuel, and Wyatt Manuel.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Timothy Phillips and Eric Phillips; and grandson, Dylan McLemore.

Mr. Godchaux’s cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
