Estrella Faye Babin

April 3, 1929 - June 21, 2022

Estrella Faye Babin, 93, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, June 21, 2022.  She was born on April 3, 1929, in Fred, to Gertrude Yawn Moore and Henry Allen Moore.

Faye was the oldest of ten siblings and a really hard worker on their farm.  She graduated valedictorian of her class then headed off to nursing school in Beaumont, where she got her RN!  After that she met her love, Kenneth, and they married in January 1950 and within six years, they had three children and later adopted another.

There was always fun and travel, especially campouts.  She loved her family like no other.  She was the “angel” matriarch.  Faye worked as a nurse at Baptist hospital for about twenty years then over to Beaumont MASH for about twenty plus years.  After retirement she and Ken set out with their camper and traveled across America for almost twenty-five years.  She also did some traveling over to Europe.  Faye was the social, happy camper of the family, always a beautiful smile and a fabulous laugh!  A very loving mom even adopting her niece in later years as her own daughter.  There are many nieces and nephews who thought of her as their second mom.  Faye was raised up as a Christian and loved singing the old church hymns, we called her our little songbird.  Faye loved Jesus and no doubt she is with Him today in Paradise, because she believed He was the Son of God, and she was a mighty encourager with her strong faith!

Faye took a bad fall last November and her health started to decline.  Her family and friends will miss her terribly, but we know she is with family members in Heaven, singing and dancing in the streets of gold.  We thank God for this amazing mother, grandmother, and friend.  Mom, you finished well, NOW REST!

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth John Babin, Sr.; children, Sheila Parchman of Lumberton; Kenneth Babin, Jr., and his wife, Beverly, of Beaumont; Tanya Steward of Lumberton; and Jeffrey Babin and his wife, Karen, of Elgin; adopted daughter, Sharon Kessler and her husband, Gary, of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren, Sean Harding, Sarah Cook, Dustin Babin, Daina Babin, Jessica Otte, Jarrod Rozean, Jalee Dudley, Kevin Kessler, and Kimberly Lindsey; nineteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lester Moore and his wife, Elaine; Douglas Moore and his wife, Carolyn; and Darrell Moore and his wife, Joyce, all of Fred.  She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

A gathering of Mrs. Babin’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2022, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Franks Branch Cemetery, Fred.  Afterwards,  guests are invited to gather at the Munro’s Kitchen, 1595 Liberty at Gulf Street, Beaumont.

Sheila, Kenny and Tanya, I send my sincere condolences to you in loss of your precious Mom! She was such a sweet lady. I’ll never forgot the beautiful baby shower she gave me at your old house in North End in 1970. We had a wonderful group of friends that went to ST. Pius X during the 60’s! Your Mom and Dad were always so loving and kind! I’m so sorry I was unable to attend her services, however, I was working and just found out about the services this morning. She will be missed! Know you are in my thoughts and prayers! Please call on me if I can do anything. Love & Hugs, Jennifer

To all of this family my sincere condolences! Faye was one of the sweetest ladies. We go all the way back to my school days with Sheila and Sharon. Then our days at MASH. I would still run into her at Walmart always with that beautiful smile. RIP my sweet friend!
