Evelyn Doris Skipper
Evelyn Doris Skipper, 95, of Sugar Land, died Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at The Reserve at First Colony, Sugar Land. She was born on December 31, 1926, to Margie Lyday Covington and Ollie Bartholomew Covington, in Port Arthur.
Evelyn retired from Southwestern Bell after over 50 years. She enjoyed playing the piano and faithfully played until her passing for church services held at her retirement home. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and painting. Evelyn will be remembered for the best homemade rolls in the world. She was a loving mother, grandmother “Grandy”, and wife, who was married to the love of her life for 67 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Kaye Soza and her husband, Donny, of Missouri City; grandchildren, Sophia Wren of Chicago, Illinois and Isabella Soza of Missouri City; and her loving church family at Christian Fellowship; and numerous loved ones and friends through the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, C.A. Skipper, Jr.; and siblings, Marie Black and Dorothy Hyde.
A gathering of Mrs. Skipper’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Fellowship, 3950 Pointe Parkway, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

Evelyn was a kind, pleasant, and gentle lifelong friend. She always greeted us with a smile and a hug. We remember her always playing the piano for church services over the years. She is probably playing for Skipper to sing as we write this.
