Frances Eileen Shroyer Sehon
Frances Eileen (Shroyer) Sehon was born on July 23, 1934 (the eighth of nine children) to Earl and Ruth Shroyer in New Carlisle, Ohio. She passed from this life to eternity on October 3, 2023.
She was a seamstress, cook, faithful wife, wonderful mother, and loyal friend. She could make anything grow and enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her many beautiful plants (she never met a weed that couldn’t be pulled). She had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed entertaining people and making everyone feel special. She taught Sunday School for many years at First United Methodist Church in Vidor, Texas. She managed Smith’s Lake in Vidor for several years and then worked for Gulf Water Shipping in Beaumont. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and decorating for all of the holidays.
In 1983, she married John Sehon, Jr of Beaumont. She welcomed his children, John Sehon III (Debbie) and Ronnie Sehon (Merle) and their families into her heart and home. She also loved his “bonus” children, the Ayo family. She worked beside him to establish White Blue Print as one of the leading reprographics companies in the Golden Triangle.
Sayings Fran had that will forever be etched in our minds: Love you a bushel and a peck, be sure to mind your p’s and q’s, clean your plate!, take your children to church and let Jesus do the rest, always feed those who come through your kitchen, gee whiz!, whatever blows your skirt up, Lordy Be!, see ya later alligator-afterwhile crocodile, and many more – on channel 4 (after singing Happy Birthday). She always called everyone on their birthdays and sang to them. For many years, she called in our birthdays and anniversaries to KLVI, hoping we’d win a cake or flowers. Anytime we left her house, we’d get hug and a kiss, and she’d stand on the driveway, blowing kisses and waving to us goodbye until she could no longer see us.
Frances is survived by her three children, Jenni Sherrod and husband, Ben, of Lumberton, Texas, Dr. Jeff Corbet and his wife, Michelle, of Bedford, Texas, and Jim Corbet and his wife, Marcia, of Greenville, Texas. She has nine grandchildren, Ben Sherrod III (Jill), Beau Sherrod (Shana), Jessica Beall (Doug), Dr. Christopher Corbet, Dr. Caitlin Corbet, Lauren Preisser (Alex), Joni Morgan (Troy), Betsy Pence (Chris), Molly Corbet, and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Bertha Parker of Naples, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruth Shroyer, brothers, Dale, Ralph, Lloyd, and Roy and sisters, Helen Chapman, Esther Hinkle, and Clara Orth Ochs. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, LaMar Corbet and second husband, John Sehon, Jr.
We want to thank all of her friends who stood by her through the years. We would also like to thank the staff at Calder Woods and Compassion Hospice for the exceptional care and friendship you gave her these last few years. A memorial service will be set for a future date.
If you desire, donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your preference. She always gave to a worthy cause instead of sending flowers.
Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Sehon were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
We just learned of the passing of Mrs. Fran and it touched us deeply. We moved across the street from her and Mr. John many years ago. She was the first one in the neighborhood to not just welcome us, but embrace us. She enjoyed playing basketball in the driveway with our boys and watching them grow up. We were very fond of her and we still nurture the plants she gifted us. She was truly a loving soul. May she rest in God’s care.
Fran was a very sweet lady that I had the pleasure of meeting when I worked as parish secretary at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica. She was a regular volunteer, and it was always a blessing to speak to her. I am sorry for your loss.
Peace of Christ be with you all.
Thank you so much! She enjoyed volunteering at St. Anthony’s.
I didn’t see Aunt Frances for many years but always remember how kind she was to me as a young teenager. She bought me my first real grown up dress. I loved it and never forget how sweet she was.
Thank you for sharing this, Linda.
It’s nice to read special memories others had about mom. She was very giving.
Fran was truly a sweet friend. We enjoyed fun times at our monthly card games, and she always greeted us with a smiling face. What a dear lady!

My memories of Mrs. Corbet go back MANY years. We sure had many good times and spent many summers at Smith’s Lake. I even worked in the concession stand for 2 summers. Mrs. Corbet was a wonderful boss, and always a very sweet and pleasant lady. Thoughts and prayers to her family.
Thank you Tina! I’m glad you have good memories.

So sorry to hear about Fran! She was such a dear lady. We always listened to birthdays and anniversaries on KLVI knowing Fran had called in all her friends and families. She and John were good friends. We miss them.
Thank you!
My memories of Mrs. Corbett Sehon go way back to Smith’s Lake. She was always laughing and smiling. She seemed to love having fun with all the kids. Lifeguard lessons with Jeff and teasing Jim with her smiling face made my summers great. As an adult, Jenni’s luncheons with all Fran’s friends were truly a blessing to both my mom and myself. My mom loved Fran so much. Fran had a wonderful family. I love you all and have you in my prayers.
Thank you, Sherry! She loved your mom so much! We did have some good times!

Fran was a beautiful addition to our family. She was the sweetest, kindest, and most giving person I have ever met. We all loved her and appreciated her thoughtfulness and generosity. We will miss her beautiful smile but I know she is at peace with her savior Jesus and those who have preceded her in heaven.
