Freddie Mae Gieger

Freddie Mae Gieger, 86, of Buna, died, Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was born on October 8, 1938, in Saratoga, to Ruby Marcontell Gieger and Fred Gieger.

She dedicated twenty-seven years of service to the Hardin County Tax Office, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 1991 stepping down as Chief Deputy Officer of the Tax Office. She was a member of Genesis Baptist Church in Buna. Known for her reliability, integrity, and kindness, she made lasting impression on her coworkers and community.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Donna Gieger, of LaMarque; her beloved great-niece, Ashley Gerald, whom she helped raise and loved as a daughter, and her husband Phillip Gerald, II, of Buna; nieces, Ava Giordano and her husband, Robert, of Buna; Charlotte Dunkin, of Kountze; and Ruby Robins and her husband, Joel, of Kountze; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Cecil Gieger.

A gathering of Ms. Gieger’s family and friends will begin 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her interment will follow at Big Sandy Cemetery, Big Sandy.
