Gene Vallorani

August 24, 1943 - March 31, 2026

Gene Vallorani, 82 of Beaumont, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in his home surrounded by family. A deep man of faith, immense creativity, and unwavering patriotism, Gene lived by the philosophy that “imagination is the greatest force ever known to humankind.”. He spent his life proving that with enough imagination, one could build a life of both substance and magic. Gene’s journey of service began shortly after high school when he joined the United States Marine Corps. A proud veteran, he served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War in the early 1960’s.  His time in the Marines remained a defining chapter of his life and lifelong source of pride.  Following his military service, Gene graduated from Salem College in West Virginia with a degree in political Science. While his career took many paths, Gene’s true passion was broadcasting. He began his career behind the microphone as a radio DJ in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, before moving into news as a broadcaster for WBOY in Clarksburg, West Virginia. His love for writing also led him to The Guardian Newspaper in Fairmont, West Virginia, where he worked as a journalist.  Later in life, Gene founded and operated Asset Growth Associates in Beaumont, Texas.

He successfully ran the financial planning company until his passing, combining his professional expertise with his love for the airwaves by hosting a weekly radio show, “That’s the Bottom Line,” for over twenty years. He shared financial strategies and discussed conservative issues. Gene’s creativity extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid artist who enjoyed drawing and even authored a book specifically for his children, a work they continue to treasure to this day.  He was a man of fellowship and faith, serving as a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Beaumont, and a frequent speaker at his local prayer breakfast. Above all his accomplishments, Gene’s greatest devotion was to family and his country. He instilled a sense of wonder in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching them to see the world through the same imaginative lens he did.

Gene was born on August 24, 1943, in Mckeesport, Pennsylvania, to the late Edith M. DeDonato and Eugene O. Vallorani.

He is survived by his children, Tony Vallorani and his wife, Debbie; Lisa Desko and her husband, Chris; and Melissa Vallorani Glendening and her husband, Jeff. He is the beloved grandfather of Nick Vallorani and his wife, Lisa, Ryne Vallorani, Lena Hackenmueller and her husband, Jake, Tucker Scritchfield, Anthony Desko, and Courtney Bernard, and her husband, Gage. He was the proud great-grandfather of Debbie, Rosalyn, Maddie, Stefan, Caroline, and Marshall. He is survived by his siblings, Ray Vallorani and his wife, Linda and Linda Jerome.

    Jeff Lewis says:

I don’t even know where to start.

Gene has been a boss, a mentor, a friend… but mostly just a friend. We shared so much, and not just a radio show and adjacent offices. We would talk sometimes for hours – didn’t really matter what about. I’d pop in to say I was leaving for the day… and still be talking an hour later.

Nothing replaces this guy. Ever. But I’m glad he’s home. All he’s wanted for the last few years is to see his wife again. Now they’re together at the feet of Jesus. And that gives me joy even in the sadness.

    Tony Vallorani says:

    I love you dad…

    Ashley Simmers says:

    Sarah Cowan says:

What a great man. I loved his heart for storytelling and enjoyed swapping adventure tales with him. He would get this twinkle in his eyes and you just knew he was about to regale something good. He treated me like one of his own and I am forever grateful for it. Sending all my love to the family.

    Lisa Desko says:

Daddy thank you for the magic spaceship rides, thank you for being ever character in the wizard of oz, thank you for the rides on Tila the elephant, my god how that tree branch magically turned into an elephants back! Thank you for taking me to see Peter Pan and making him and so many characters come to life! The imagination you instilled in me lives on forever in my children and grandchildren! You were truly a magically man! I love you deeply, Lisa

    Steve Gingo says:

Gene was in the Bay of Pigs and a boat with Fidel Castro wasn’t far off while in the US Marines. He was a brave and creative man with a gift of a wonderful voice and commanding storytelling nature. He strove to get the most from his life, and his friends and family will be comforted by their time with him. His love of country is unquestioned, and he will always remain one of my friends, even though I haven’t seen him in a very long time. Our prayers go out to his family and friends. A wonderful man.

    Melissa Vallorani says:

As I take a moment to reflect on a memory to share. I am flooded with memories of my dad. With every memory I find myself reflecting on Love, Laughter, Sadness, and lessons learned from him. A man of such intense strength that it surrounded with him when he entered a room. My dad could carry any conversation with his wealth of knowledge on any subject. My dad taught me that “when there is a will there is a way.” He guided me with his wisdom, encouraged me with his grit, loved me with his gentleness. My dad is the greatest man I have ever known. I am the beyond proud that I could call him my father.

    Lisa Desko says:

Very sorry to hear of Gene’s passing. I’ve been listening to his radio program on KLVI for several years, and I feel like he was a personal friend, even though we’ve never met in person. In my opinion, the world has lost a fine man.
