Geneva Katherine Kirkland

Geneva Katherine Kirkland, 99, of Liberty, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Austin Texas. She was born on June 16, 1925, in Beaumont, to Gladys Edwina Schmidt Breaux and Oliver Jordan Breaux.

Survivors include her son, Ricky Kirkland and his wife, Judy, of Cedar Creek; and daughter-in-law, Vivienne Kirkland, of Devers; grandchildren, Robb Kirkland, of Devers; Jana Kirkland Post and her husband Corbett, of Pearland; Amy Kirkland Fajkus and her husband, Colter, of Jarrell; and Kyle Kirkland and his wife, Lisa, of University City; and great-grandchildren Seth, Leyton, and Laci Kirkland; Maggie, Chap, and Whit Post; and Cole, Dean, and Isla Fajkus, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfis Kirkland; son, Robert Kirkland; siblings, Harold Breaux, Carroll Breaux, Charles Breaux, Ivy Juanita (Teano) Dacus, and Alley Lee Burden.

Geneva or “Memaw”, as she was lovingly called by her family grew up in Beaumont.  She met and married Alfis Kirkland in October 1946, and they were married for 59 years before he passed. Geneva loved her flowers, gardening, and making birthday dinners special by cooking up your favorites! Memaw was a talented seamstress and knitter and when the grandkids came along, they always had new clothes that were made with love.  This love of gardening and making the best jelly has been passed to those grandkids and great grandkids that she loved so much.

A gathering of Mrs. Kirkland’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, 800 South 3^rd Street, Silsbee, Texas.
