Genevia Thomas
Genevia Guillory Thomas, 81, of Stowell, Texas, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 25, 1944, in Mowata, Louisiana, to Cora Riggs and Avery Guillory. Genevia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a beacon of warmth and kindness to all.
She was the heart of her home, creating a sanctuary filled with love, kindness and the aroma of her many wonderful meals. She poured her energy into raising her four children and instilling in them her values of compassion, love of God and the importance of family.
Genevia moved to Texas with her family as a toddler. She lived in Port Acres briefly before the family moved and made Stowell, Texas their home. She attended school in Anahuac, Texas, and was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School in 1963. She accepted Jesus as her Savior early in life and was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Genevia met and married Dairs Thomas. From their union, they were blessed with four loving children.
Survivors include her children, Dairs Thomas Jr. (Beverly), Bernice Thomas, Kenneth Thomas and his wife, Barbara, and Darlene Thomas-Denton and her husband, Pat; grandchildren, Marcus Thomas, Macanzie Cadena, Jonathan Thomas, Duranda Hall, Brianna Hall, Keirra Anderson, Dustyn Thomas, Darius Brandon, Reva Warren, Renate DeJean and Kylie Denton; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; former husband, Dairs Thomas Sr.; and siblings, Mary Thomas, Roosevelt Guillory, Roy Guillory, Evelyn George, Robert Guillory, Cora George, Laura Laday, and JoAnn Deculus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Monica Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas; and siblings, Dea Mae Guillory, Linda Faye Guillory, Rene Guillory, Lillian Ceasar, Eugene Guillory, Avery Guillory, Jr., and Warren Guillory.
We invite all who knew and loved Genevia to join us in paying tribute to a life well-lived. A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Stowell. Her interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie, under the direction of Broussard’s 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie.
