Genevieve “Gena” Ann Connors
Genevieve “Gena” Ann Connors, 70, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Beaumont, died February 6, 2025. She was born on May 9, 1954, in Houston, to Genevieve Maureen Dutton and Edward James Sherlock, Jr.
Gena loved her faith, family, friends and a few special possessions – in that order. Her faith was largely forged by her close companion and great aunt, Sr. Rita Estelle. They were two giants walking through airports together. Sr. Rita Estelle with her huge religious habit and Gena with her enormous head of hair. After observing Gena on a damp windy day, one stranger was overheard stating “Hair, where you going with women underneath?” Gena’s hair rivaled Absalom’s. Her faith and her hope were equally huge. When items were lost, she promptly wrote a check to some St. Anthony parish or charity, and if the item was found she placed the check in the mail. Gena believed God hoped with her.
Gena loved her family and made a point of contacting some members almost every day to keep in touch; all while keeping her whereabout and activities characteristically undisclosed. She was a strong-willed person and carried her cancer cross with the strength and determination of a heroine. Through her illness she became an inspiration to her many nieces and nephews and her physical and mental strength a marvel to her siblings.
Friendships came quickly and easily for Gena. She was a miner of personalities. In her fun filled interrogations of friends and strangers Gena uncovered the gems of their stories and lives. Then she shared the brilliance of those gems with others, so all became witnesses to the light our Maker places in each of us.
Gena attended St. Anne’s Catholic School, Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School and graduated from Loyola University, New Orleans. She was a domestic engineer, organizing the business lives of her deceased husbands. Twice widowed she became a realtor in Colorado Springs where she met her treasured companion and “darling”, Tom Bader. Tom has been the best friend and consummate care giver to Gena these past eight years, and while Gena has physically departed her undying spirit and love is preparing an abode for Tom.
Survivors include her “darling”, Tom Bader; siblings, Craig Sherlock and his wife, Pat; Colleen Sherlock; E. Jay Sherlock and his wife, Terri; Kitty Paulk, Mary Belle Connick and her husband, Peter; nieces and nephews, Arie Sherlock; Jamie Pope and her husband, George; Casey Koehler and her husband, Kyle; Logan Sherlock and his wife, Sara; Julie Sherlock; Morgan Sherlock; Kott Sherlock; Jessica Williamson, and her husband, Josh; Genevieve “GeGe” Simone and her husband, Matt; Estelle Paulk; Catherine Belle Paulk; Peter Connick, Jr., and his wife, Marcelle; Mary Colleen Stroble and her husband, Tyler; Conor Connick and his wife, Abigail; and Catherine Grace Connick.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

I knew, loved, and worked for “Mrs Genny” a long time, and was greatly God-Blessed by her friendship during that time, She was always a giant, refreshing ray of compassion, dedicated hard work, humor, morals and strength, which is why we got along so well. It has taken me since Monday to respond to the devasting news of her passing, and every time I see her beautiful picture, I am again reduced to profound sadness.
I pray The Lord’s Divine, Loving, Comfortíng Strength to heal all of us that knew her 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Dearest sweet Mrs. Genny, I pray you rest in peace 💗
So sorry to hear about Gena’s illness and passing. She leaves behind the best memories of laughter!! She kept us laughing all through HS at Kelly and shared in some great memories. May she rest in peace, love you “You Bomb”. Truly, Paula
Dear Tom and Genevieve’s Family, I am so sorry to hear about Genevieve. I considered her a very dear friend. I met Genevieve in real estate school. I was teaching there when she came to get her license, and then she came to work at the same company where I did and we became good friends. We lived close to each other. And then I helped Tom and Genevieve buy a home for Tom’s sisters in Florida. We stayed in touch and Genevieve and Tom were so wonderful to me when my son got sick with COVID in December 2021 and when he died on February 6, 2022. Genevieve taught me to pray the Rosary. She was so wonderful. I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Joe and I are so sorry to hearing of Genevieve’s passing. She was always so cheerful and engaging and a sweet spirit. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with you Tom, and all her family and friends. May she rest in heavenly peace.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Genevieve was such a wonderful woman. I loved her sweet spirit and her smile. I didn’t know her for very long but felt blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her and get to know her. Genevieve, rest in peace. I know you are somewhere there is beach and a beautiful sunset.
I don’t know who wrote this but it captured the lady we came to know through Tom. I am not a big socializer but if Gene was in, I was in! We shared so much chatting, laughter, fun and food together. I look forward to meeting her again. I’m a physician and from what I heard, there’s as much fun on the other side.
How lucky I am to have had the extraordinary experience of Genevieve as my dear friend. Our dinners and wonderful conversations over the past several years revealed how remarkably generous she was with her time, how fiercely she fought to right whatever was wrong, and how kind and thoughtful she was to all those she cared about. Rest peacefully, I will miss you and hold you in my heart. Love Susie
Sorry to come upon this in Broussards and want to express my sympathy to the Sherlock family.

Miss Genevieve will be missed very much. She was such a nice lady. She was always so sweet and kind to me when I worked for her in Florida and then in Colorado when I move to Colorado, I always enjoy talking to her and that I will miss but not as much as I will miss her
