Gentry Rae Lovett

September 20, 1990 - September 30, 2022

Gentry Rae Lovett, of Beaumont, died September 30, 2022, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. She was born Katrina Billie Karasek in Galveston, Texas, on September 20, 1990. Gentry was welcomed into the home of Raymond (Ray) Lovett, Jr., and then Donna Shawl Lovett (Swiss Hart), Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1990. Raymond and Donna fostered and provided a lifelong commitment to love and care for a child whose name was officially changed to Gentry Rae Lovett in 1992.

Gentry experienced lifelong health issues, which included two kidney transplants. Both transplants were from live donors. Donna provided Gentry with a kidney at the age of 2 and a family friend, Ruth Sapp, provided a kidney when Gentry was 16. Gentry grew up surrounded by many people who loved and cared for her. Gentry never met a stranger. All who knew her have Gentry stories to tell. Gentry received services from Spindletop Center for services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Many thanks go out to so many people who over the years took a part in caring for Gentry.

Gentry was preceded in death by Raymond Lovett, Jr. in 2020 and Donna Shawl in 2021. She gained a multitude of family when she came to live with Ray and Donna and is survived by many who represent her family: Stepparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, house momma, friends of Donna, friends of Ray and her Spindletop family.

Cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. There are no services pending and her internment will occur at Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas, at a later date.

I taught Gentry while she was in high school. What a bundle of happy energetic energy. She always had a smile on her face and something kind to say to everyone. I most recently was in contact with Gentry through activities at Arc of Greater Beaumont. She loved meeting new friends and greeting old friends. She will be greatly missed.
