George Elmos Garza

February 24, 1923 - March 12, 2022

George Elmos Garza was born February 24, 1923, in Noble, Louisiana, and died Saturday, March 12, 2022.

George attended school in Noble, Louisiana, before World War II, where he was in the CCC Camp coming to Beaumont in 1942. George went proudly to serve his country in the United States Army in 1944 in Munich Germany and was discharged June 6, 1946. His decorations and citations include Rhineland Central Europe GO 105 WD 45- EAME Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Ribbon-Germany, Victory Ribbon, and 3 Overseas Service Bars. George served in Battery C 976th Field Artillery Battalion.

Working before service time at Dollinger Steel, and then returning there in June 1946 and working until March 1967. Then working at Beaumont Steel until retirement in 1985.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Jo Elliot of Beaumont; sister, Gladys Trible of Haughton, Louisiana; grandsons, David Garza and James Garza; great-grandson, Cody Garza; and special daughter by choice, Becky Bloodsworth.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Garza and his father, George; mother of his children, Geraldine Condrey Garza; second wife, Dollie Garza; son, Garland “Sonny” Garza; daughter, Eva Hyatt; sisters, Julie Mae Garcie and Essie Garcia; and brothers, Lennis Garza and Sam Garza.

A gathering of Mr. Garza’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2022, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

    My 2nd daddy and PaPa George to all my grandkids. He had his arms on my shoulders as they took my deceased dad out of our house. He agreed to fill that void in my dad’s absence, and he certainly did. Known him since I was 3 years old. Loved him dearly
