Gerald Robert White
Gerald Robert White, 75, of Beaumont, passed away March 2, 2023. He was born May 28, 1947.
Gerald settled in Beaumont in 1979 and proceeded to take part in the many communities in the area working with people in the arts and horticulture. He held a PhD in Biochemical engineering as well as a Master Gardeners degree. He was the Research grantee of the Environmental Protection Agency in 1975 and the grantee of the National Science Foundation in 1977. He was also a part of the Mensa society and used his knowledge and wisdom that is well renowned throughout his friends and family.
He is survived by his son, Gerald Arthur White, and his cousins; Janet Johnston, Linda Moean’i, Joyce King David, and Rick Sandvos, and many friends.
Gerald is preceded in death by parents, Perry L. White and Roberta “Threadway” White, PhD.
A gathering of Mr. White’s family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, and will be available to watch VIA Livestream at the following Link: Click Here PIN: 350-532. His graveside service will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W Picacho Avenue, Las Cruces, New Mexico.

I just learned of Jerry’s passing. I met him through the Beaumont Art League, and though I did not know him very long, or saw him very often, we struck a good friendship very quickly. He’s a fine gentleman, and I am honored to call me my friend. Thank you, and God bless.
My life was touched by a great friend Jerry/Standing Bear. My heart is crushed by the news I just read. He came to me in a dream. I saw him in a Mexican restaurant. He was dressed in a dark suit and white shirt. He said bye and left. I will see you again. Thank you for the light and wisdom you bestowed on my life. Amen Aho…And So It is. Sorry for your loss Jerry and your family.
Jerry – God Bless you. I will always hold you in my heart. Thank you is not enough for all the lessons you gave me, love you showed me. I will miss you and your hugs.

Jerry once said that after a grade-school teacher described him as a “bright and shining light among us” because of how well he did on tests, he decided to hide some of that light at times. It still shone out from his playful spirit and his loving heart.
A Master Gardener as well as a Master of Friendship, Jerry knew that planting a beautiful garden will bring butterflies, and on the days when there are no butterflies, there’s still that beautiful garden. A Master Teacher, he shared his wisdom with a lot of people, always finding a way to plant some laughter too. A fellow apiarist, he might appreciate this:
“You’re walking in the garden and a bee comes to rest on your hand. What do you have in your eye?
Beauty. Because Beauty is in the eye of the Bee-holder.”
Those who walked with him in the garden, got to know a beautiful soul.
I offer deepest condolences to Jerry’s son and all his family and many friends, for the loss of his immediate presence in our lives and for the loss of that bright shining light from our view.
Jerry was my older cousin and admittedly my first crush as a young girl. He always was the ringleader in mischief for all of us cousins. He made us laugh, teased us incessantly, especially us girls, and lit up the room with his laugh. He was always a great favorite to his aunts, my mom and her sisters. As families do, we grew up, moved away and lost track of each other. I wish that I could have known him better as an adult and got to know my second cousin, Gerald.From all of the stories I just heard, Jerry was an amazing human being. Until we meet in Heaven, Cuz. Your presence we now miss. We move forward with a beautiful, rich, store of treasures, memories and traditions. The wisdom Jerry shared will continue to inspire many for generations.We will always carry you with us, as you blessedly ‘scattered many seeds’ on this Earth.

My fondest memory of Jerry is when I was probably only 7 years old, and he was 16. We were at Granny and Grandad’s house and I asked him where babies came from! I still remember the look on his face! Obviously this did not go over well with the parents and grandparents; it was the 60’s after all. Sorry cous… I didn’t mean to get you in trouble!!! But the bond was built that day. He was always there when I needed advice and support and the wisdom he provided will stay with me always. He was the brother I never had. His legacy lives on through his son. Rest in peace Jerry, I will miss you.
Jerry played the most valuable part in my adult life in the past twenty years through sharing his heart, wisdom and caring. Thank You My Brother for Your knowledge and grace. Rest well. I look forward to the day we meet again????

We will miss our beloved teacher and friend who taught us so much about the ways if the Beloved Cherokee grandmothers. We will remember his many gifts wisdom knowledge sense of humour and love of Life. We surround his family with infinite amounts of love at this time. We were richly blessed to have walked a few miles with Jerry White (Standing Bear)
He was a very nice man and a good neighbor. The neighborhood will be different without him. He came to our neighborhood meetings also.
