Gerry Mitchell D’Entremont
Geraldean “Gerry” D’Entremont passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 92 on November 20, 2024. She was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on November 29, 1931, but she lived in Texas for most of her life.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. She was a very active member of St. Anne Catholic Church for many years and loved her many friends in the St. Anne’s community. She eventually moved to Plano, Texas to be with family, but Beaumont was always “home.”
She was an extraordinary caregiver. It was her special gift that defined the way she interacted with others. Her meticulous and devoted care of our “Poppy” throughout his very lengthy illness was obvious to all, an example for her family, and rooted in her selfless, generous, and loving ways. She always put her family first, in everything, every time. Her family will always remember and admire her strength and resilience. She met challenges with determination and good humor, and that toughness eventually became referred to as “Granny tough.”
She made friends easily because of her ability to make those she met feel special, loved, and appreciated. She was “Granny” to so many beyond her family. She was an avid reader, loved to paint, and had a well-known love of birds and gardening that sparked those same interests and appreciation for nature in many others.
She is survived by her sons, Gerald D’Entremont and wife, Cathy; Andy D’Entremont and wife, Joi; and her daughter, Mary Bryant and husband, Bruce; “Granny”, as she was known to family and friends, is also survived by eight beloved grandchildren, Grant D’Entremont, Garrett D’Entremont and wife Sara, Thomas D’Entremont, Holli Exum, Ross D’Entremont, Chris D’Entremont, Patrick Bryant, and Matthew Bryant.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Della Mae Cannon and A.G. “Gerald” Cannon and her beloved husband, Joseph A. D’Entremont.
The family wishes to thank her many friends for their friendship, cards, and endless prayers. The family also thanks Dr. William A. Calley Jr and his wonderful staff for their many years of exceptional care as well as her surgeons, Dr. Salim Jabbour and Dr. Alex Dowli, for their outstanding and compassionate care. Special thanks go to Dr. Satbir Rism and the dedicated patient care team of Floor 6C at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano for their extreme kindness and loving care during her recent, lengthy hospitalization, as well as the nurses and CNAs at Three Oaks Hospice for their excellent care during the late stages of her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Gerry D’Entremont Memorial Endowed Award Fund at the University of Alabama or to Birthright, 2626 Calder Street, Beaumont, Texas 77702, one of her favorite charities. Donations to her scholarship fund may be either sent by mail to The University of Alabama, Office of Advancement Services, Box 870101, Tuscaloosa, AL 35486, noting they are for the “Gerry D’Entremont Memorial Endowed Award Fund” or online at https://give.ua.edu/?d=AAA2668A-B68A-4AF2-8BF5-525D5C4BB93B.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Monsignor Michael Jamail.

Heaven has just gained an angel. I know “Mr. D” has greeted her with open arms at heaven’s gate.
Such a great spiritual leader, and my confirmation sponsor. Her faith and love of our Lord was inspirational, my life is richer for having her in it.
My heart goes out, and prayers go up for the entire family.
