Gina Rodriguez Levy
Gina Rodriguez Levy, 49, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, November 14, 2023. She was born on June 2, 1974, to Virginia Mendoza Rodriguez and Pablo S. Rodriguez, in Pecos. Gina had taught at Dishman Elementary and was currently an administrator for The Ehrhart School in Beaumont. Gina was the 2019 Dishman Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Gina graduated from Lamar University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She began teaching in 2005. She volunteer taught at St. Anne Catholic Church’s Sunday Catechism from 2003-2006.
Gina touched the hearts of so many: her family, her friends, and her students. Her love and passion for teaching, for truth, for knowledge, and for understanding will endure in everyone. Her strength of character and wisdom, her compassion and empathy, and her gentle and kind demeanor will be deeply missed.
She loved and was devoted to attending dance competitions, conventions, and recitals and theatre productions to support her nephew, Jorgé (Chato). Chato was her pride and joy.
She enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends and especially her furbabies, Ottie and Artie.
We may never understand Gina’s sudden passing, but we will always remember her intelligence, patience, innocence, and zest for life. She lives on in our hearts.
What is Your Peace? By Ann (Gina) Rodriguez
There are two kinds of people in this world-those that help others and those that need their help. Maybe, we are a little bit of both and there should not be shame in that. In our quest to help others, we find that we need help. In our dilemmas, we find that we have the strength to help others. What happens when you are neither? Have you found peace of mind? So we shall see…
Survivors include her husband, Michael Levy; nephew, Jorge Rodriguez; parents, Virginia and Pablo Rodriguez; sister, Yvonne Rodriguez; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sandra and Isaac Levy; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Valarie and Walter Winn and their children, Aspen Winn and Jalen Winn.
She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
A gathering of Mrs. Levy’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.

Michael you and your family are in my prayers.
Gina was such a sweet soul. I was honored to have taught with her at Dishman Elementary. Gina loved her students and was respectful to everyone who walked through her door. Every time we had a chance to visit, Gina always found something encouraging to share. The world has gotten a little dimmer in her passing. Gina will be missed by many. Prayers of strength for her family.

I had the great pleasure of working with Mrs. Levy at Dishman Elementary. She was not only a teacher, but an extraordinary vessel for God’s work. She taught her students beyond the classroom. There will be masses of leaders of change for years to come all because of her service. Being in her presence and observing her unwavering compassion and commitment to children was truly a blessing. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs Levy was my son’s kindergarten teacher at Dishman. We thank God for her on the daily because she was the best teacher for him. She was such a sweet soul. May she rest in peace. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Levy has worked with me for the last few years as a guide to better suit the specific needs of my students. She would always lend an ear to help me in any way that I needed. She was one of the most patient, understanding, and thoughtful people that I have known. I will forever be impacted by her kind words of encouragement and patience. She truly was a gift to her students and friends.
I love you dearly Mrs. Levy. You will be missed greatly. 🩷
