Ginger Ann Dishman "GAD"
Ginger Ann Dishman, “GAD”, 84, passed away peacefully in her home on February 7, 2021. The daughter of Curtis and Laura Davis, she was born on October 13, 1936 in Caldwell, Texas, but as a young girl moved to South Park. GAD was proud to be forever a South Park “Greenie Girl”, forming many lasting friendships from this time in her life.
The Dishman family matriarch and a woman of charisma who, after graduating from Kountze High School, married James Clyde “J.C.” Dishman, in 1955. The young couple returned to what she referred to as “God’s Country” while J.C. attended and graduated from Texas A&M. After which she embarked on a life as a farmer’s wife and mother to their children.
Ginger and J.C. farmed and ranched together for the next 26 years while raising their three sons, Rodney, Monk, Tuff, and friend, Skipper. Ginger had a passion for their farm business and was involved in every aspect of it, keeping the daily journals and books until recently. After J.C.’s death she became a full partner of Dishman and Sons’ Farm and an integral part of growing their agricultural operations for the next 35 years. She was the backbone of a family business that has survived many hardships but yet prevailed through her grandsons, Zach and Josey, who are still carrying on the family legacy.
She was proud to be a farmer’s wife and enthusiastically cooked noon meals. But she would drop everything to attend Little Britches rodeos, 4-H activities, and any sport their sons played, including supporting their professional rodeo careers and the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame, of which Monk was inducted in 2015.
Rodeo was a family tradition with the Dishman’s, and GAD’s support included founding and administrating the REGION V division of the Texas High School Rodeo Association in the mid 70’s. Rodney, Monk, and Zach continued the family rodeo legacy and competed professionally in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association before returning home to farm.
GAD spent her life helping others. Her home had an open-door policy. There was always room for another plate at the Dishman’s table and a bed for a cowboy, and she enjoyed and shared those memories throughout her life.
She loved and lived life with her three grandchildren, Zach, Josey, and Zane. They were the light of her life, following and attending all childhood sporting events (except soccer) school activities and achievement ceremonies, including developing her famous “Crawfish Dip” when they began to farm crawfish.
GAD and dearest friend, Mike Howell, better known as “Hat-Rack” spent many years laughing and enjoying each other’s company and the company of their families. Many lasting memories were made and to those who were lucky enough to be around probably enjoyed many laughs thanks to Hat.
She was a woman of tenacity and grit who was never afraid to express her opinion, some would say the last of a dying breed. She relentlessly read and saved newspaper clippings, devotionals, quotes, and books, distributing them to friends and family as she thought appropriate.
GAD was known to take books, newspapers, and puzzles to friends in need or hospitalized. She had a passion for reading and her church. She was a patron of Forest Park Methodist Church and lived her lifetime commitment to her church and community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Laura Davis; brother, Ronnie Davis; husband, James Clyde; and her sons, Monk and Tuff. She is survived by her sons, Rodney Dishman and wife, Libbie and Skipper Tammen and wife, Debra; daughter-in-law, Kay Dishman; sister-in-law, Libby Davis; grandchildren, Zach Dishman and wife, Ashley; Josey Dishman and wife, Ashlyn; and Zane Dishman; six great-grandchildren, Dalton, Ireland, Adalyn, Makenna, Ryce and Legend; and long-time companion, Mike “Hat Rack” Howell; along with many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends whom she loved.
A gathering of Mrs. Dishman’s family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Sevenne Hall at Broussard Farm, 10714 East Clubb Road, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Forest Park United Methodist Church, 225 South Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77707.

She was my mother-in-law, but more than that, she was my friend. I met her when I was only 20 and I learned so much about life from her. She was generous with her love and her time and by her example, she showed me how to care for my friends. She was always doing for others. I’m going to miss the homemade pimiento cheese she would make and tell me to come get so we could talk. I’m going to miss the annual birthday cards she sent. Over 40 years, she never forgot my birthday! She was so special in my life and I’m so thankful I had a chance over the years to let her know that. And I’m going to miss her greatly. Love you, Gad!

I was very sorry to hear about Ginger's passing. I have so many fond memories of her, dating back over 50 years. I would go to spend the night "in the country" at her house. She made a mean sandwich and glass of Kool-Aid and was always so nice and thoughtful. She attended FPUMC, as did my parents. My parents thought the world of her. My thoughts are with Rodney and the Dishman Family, as they mourn her loss. She will be missed by all that knew her. May she RIP.

From my first memory of Ginger Dishman as a very small boy up to my last visit with her not long ago , to me she never changed. From the second she saw me for over 50 years, She always made me feel the same. We love Jesus because He loved us first. She loved me first, l loved her. She gave us all reasons to love and respect her ! Tough but kind. Unconditional love and loyalty for family. Perseverance and grace few of us could exhibit. The ability to see through all the distractions and courage to speak truth. You knew what Ginger Dishman was gonna say before you asked her a question...... For the family she cherished, I pray the empty feeling because she passed is soon filled with thoughts, memories and knowledge of her love Peace Ginger Dishman, I love you

Fast forward to my first born whom is 22 now , GAD gave him a pair of tiny rubber boots. I still have those to this day. Mrs Dishman will be missed, my dad had the upmost respect for her and loved her just as much. They are together visiting in heaven with family and friends now..
