Gisela Anna Gunter
Gisela Anna Gunter (Gross), 92, of Nederland, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on December 5th, 2020. She was born on November 4th, 1928, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Anna Hahn Gross and Wilhelm Gross. Gisela came to the United States in 1952, first staying in Detroit, Michigan and then traveling to Texas to marry the love of her life, R.C. Gunter Jr., on February 21st, 1953. She worked for the Nederland School District for twenty-five years. Gisela was a devoted member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and always participated in numerous church activities.
Gisela was a devoted wife; mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. Once she returned to her childhood home twenty years later, she took great joy in her yearly trips to Germany, where she often brought family members to appreciate and learn about the culture she loved so much. She enjoyed cooking wonderful family meals, especially for holiday gatherings. Gisela also enjoyed getting together with her German friends for fellowship and coffee. Her main joy in life, though, was taking care of her family. She rarely missed a sports game, school activity, graduation, or any opportunity to be present in the lives of the ones she loved.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven and a half years, R.C. Gunter Jr., of Nederland, Texas; daughter, Linda Monica Bresee, of Nederland, Texas; sons, Robert and his wife, Kristi, of Garrison, Texas and Kevin and his wife, Leitha, of Kountze, Texas; grandchildren, Brandy Kotz and her husband, Jarred; Tyler Gunter and his wife, Stephanie; Lisbeth VanDaalen and her husband, Kevin; Travis Gunter; Ryan Gunter; Jacob Gunter and his wife, Libbie; Kendall Gunter; and Josie Gunter; great-grandchildren, Avery and Jackson Kotz; Levi VanDaalen; Addison Gunter; and Wyatt and Jude VanDaalen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Wilhelm and Anna Gross; brother, Dieter Gross; in-laws; Ramsey and Pink Gunter; son, Stephen Gunter; grandson, Brian Gunter; and great-grandchild, Eden VanDaalen.
A gathering of Mrs. Gunter’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2711 Helena Avenue, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Nederland, with a graveside at 2:00 p.m., at Sycamore Cemetery, Burkeville.

Aunt Gisela was a wonderful person. We spent some personal time together back when my divorce was taking place. She also loved to reminisce about the trip she and I took to see my mom Judy in Washington state.. It was a surprise for my mom's birthday. Judy and Gisela were good friends and I was blessed to have both these women in my life.
