Gracie Mae King Levier

August 3, 1932 - June 27, 2022

The Matriarch, Gracie Mae King Levier, a prayer warrior for the Lord, passed away peacefully in her home on June 27, 2022. Gracie was born August 3, 1932, in Waxia, Louisiana, to Merrick and Zulia King. She married Joseph Levier in 1952, then later moved to Texas and made her home in 1960.

Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Levier; both parents; four children; two sisters, Virgie Thomas and Mary Jane Thomas; four brothers, Merrick King, Jr., John King, Joseph King, and Morman King; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Levier. She has one surviving sister, Mary Orelia Guillory and husband, B.J., of China, Texas.

Leaving to mourn her memories, children, Betty West; Shirley Golston; Shirleen Thomas; Catherine Levier; and Josephine Griffin and husband, Rufus; grandkids, Benjamin West and wife, Taressa; Leo Levier; Adam Harmon and wife, Brenda; Angelina Sanders and husband, Byron; Willie West and wife, LeAnn; Gregory Levier and wife, Brittany; Sophia Thomas; Henry Harmon; Johnthan Thomas and wife, Trish; Joshua Harmon and wife, Tarah; Gracie Thomas; and Brittany Levier. She leaves twenty-three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A gathering of Mrs. Levier’s family and friends will be 9:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Trinity Church, 1324 TX-124, Winnie. Her interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

    There are really no words that an be shared during a time like this, especially when the matriarch passes away. I just pray that her legacy continues to live on. She was truly a child of God and showed it continuously through the way she carried herself with others.
