Harold “Andy” Anderson
Harold S. Anderson, 91, of Fannett, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Andy, as he was affectionately known to friends and family, was born in Dodd City, Texas on September 29, 1934, to Clarence ‘Speck’ and Mary Stone Anderson.
Andy was a novel storyteller of his childhood and life in general. Often talking about growing up on his family farm near Bonham, Texas. He knew the meaning of hard work and truly worked the land. He developed a knack for entrepreneurship early on by selling watermelons out the back of the family car.
He left home at the tender age of sixteen with $3.00 in his pocket and a dream of exploring what life had to offer him. He started out in Fort Worth where he dabbled in a few different jobs to make ends meet and in 1956, Andy moved to the Beaumont area where he worked at Koppers Chemical from 1956-1973. During this time, he also began buying and selling cattle and growing his dream of starting his own construction company. In 1973, he left the plant work behind and opened Southeast Cable Construction. This business would define his career and life as a successful one until he decided to sell it and retire in 2002.
Andy was never one to truly stop working and knew idle hands at home would get him into trouble with his wife, Effie, so they founded a new business, S.E.C. Mortgage. This business still runs today even after his retirement at the age of ninety.
Andy loved hunting and shared a place in Carta Valley/Rocksprings with his best friend Jack Burrell. They spent many years with their families enjoying camp life and deer hunting. His greatest love was fishing. He spent lots of time in Mexico bass fishing with many friends and family always bringing back a freezer full to last until the next year when he returned. When he couldn’t continue fishing in Mexico, he spent lots of time on the bayous and lakes fishing with his grandsons Jeremy and Aaron, good friends Jerry Askew, Freddy Buchholz, Erwin Leger and anyone else he could talk into joining him.
After the passing of his late wife Effie, Andy found companionship with Lois Berwick. They were able to enjoy many years of dancing at the singles club, watching ‘the wheel’ and road trips together.
Andy is survived by his son, Raymond Lee Anderson of China; daughter, Connie Sue Anderson and her wife, Keri Merciez-Anderson of Fannett; granddaughter, Dawn Havens and her husband, Jason, of League City; grandsons, Jeremy Harrington and his wife, Tara, of Fannett; Aaron George and his wife, Madisen, of Orange; great-grandchildren, Jace and Addison Havens; Cheyenne, Braylee and Walker Harrington; Henlee Jo George; brothers, James Anderson and wife, Karen, Butch Anderson and wife, Rusty; and sister, Kay Verdin and husband, Don.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin ‘Pete’ Anderson; wife, Effie Anderson; daughter, Sherri Anderson; granddaughter, Misty Anderson; and great-nephew, Cody Clubb. His best friends: Fred Hyland, James Earl Johnson, Jack Burrell and Freddy Buchholz.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at Harbor Hospice.

Worked with Andy at Koppers Co. He was always upbeat, never ceasing to tell a story or two, and will be pleasantly remembered.
Andy was always such a nice and joyful person to be around. Many memories made. I know he will be missed. Hugs and prayers for the family.
P.S. Now Freddy and Andy can enjoy fishing, crabbing and bullshitting again💙

Andy took a chance on me in 2008 when a 25 yr old me couldn’t get the financing to buy the house I badly wanted and still live in today. Always appreciated and respected that. Sorry to see he’s passed on but he helped many people. To Andy’s family, please accept my condolences. Jarrod
