Harold Roy Woodrom
Harold Roy Woodrom Sr, age 88, of Wildwood, Texas, left his earthly home to enter heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday evening, March 29, 2025. Harold was born in Port Neches, Texas to Ola Blanche George Woodrom and Bethel Sylvester Woodrom on January 29, 1937. He grew up in Port Neches alongside his older brother (8 years his elder), Elton Woodrom, whom he admired greatly. After High School, he was accepted into East Texas Bible College in Marshall, Texas. After one year of Bible college, he enlisted for six years in the U.S. Marine Corp and entered active duty on January 23, 1957. On February 1, 1960, after several commendations and advancements Corporal Woodrom was transferred to the Marine Corp Reserves until his honorable discharge on January 23, 1963. He returned home to his family and in 1964 began his 30-year career at DuPont Beaumont Works refinery in Nederland, Texas. After retiring, he was hired as a consultant for DuPont to oversee several new operations including a multi-year stint in Gijón, Austurias, Spain.
He and Marilyn built a beautiful life and home and have resided in the Wildwood community for the past 31 years where he served on many committees, as well as, on the Board of Directors. He had an extreme love for adventure and he and Marilyn traveled the world. He was an exceptional flower gardener and made sure to pass on this love of flowers to his family and friends. Both Harold and Marilyn have remained faithful and very active in their church and their community. Harold remained very patriotic and ensured that each 4th of July was a huge celebration in their community. He took it upon himself to raise, lower, and care for the flags raised at Wildwood and within the surrounding community. He was actively involved in the local VFW, volunteered to transport local veterans to their VA appointments in Houston, and participated in as many military funerals as his time allowed. He was an AARP volunteer as a driver safety instructor to the elderly.
