We certainly have many years of fond memories singing in the St. Mark’s choir with Harriet. She was a very cool granny, even to our kids, who were very young at the time and always appeared in the choir room. They even remember being with Nadine in the lady’s robing room, and have many stories which make us laugh to this day. We all knew of Harriet’s vertigo, but at the first rehearsal we attended, we saw Harriet walking down the hallway and running into the walls, and we thought she was such a nice lady to have to get drunk before practice! She was always present,, especially for every legendary choir festival in Houston and every choir party at Jerome and Doug’s . Those were wonderful years for us and our kids, and Harriet made them even more memorable. Our condolences to her family, and applause to her for a life well lived!

Harriet and her dear friend Genie Browning sang with me in the St. Mark's choir for YEARS! Harriet and Genie, Jill Radford, Ann Cobb, and I formed a Lunch Bunch that ate together after church for YEARS along with Carol Kavanaugh and Linda Knauth. The original 5 also got together on week days and Harriet named us the Coven - not sure why.... but we did have ideas not always associated with church choir. Harriet gave us bumper stickers (mine is still on the side of my desk) NOTHING SAYS LOVIN' LIKE SOMETHING FROM THE COVEN. Harriet had a really fine mind and was open to various fields of study - and she had a keen wit. .... and vast musical knowledge, skill, and taste. The original Coven is a duet now - time has taken our friends to GLORY! but nothing can take our memories. A memory that will forever stick is your mother's strength. When her grand baby was born, Harriet climbed a flight of steps with a broken leg to fly to be with you and your newborn - can't remember if it was Megan or Emily..... but I remember Harriet's determination. Love and prayers as you recreate your life without your dear mom. Give yourself lots of time - I know it took me a while after my mom died..
