Hazel Baggs Holland
Hazel Baggs Holland, 94, of Beaumont, died Friday, November 15, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1930, in Port Arthur, to Mildred Goodwin and Homer Leroy Baggs, Sr.
Hazel graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, in Port Acres in 1949. She went on to graduate from Port Arthur Business College in 1950. Hazel was employed at several places in the greater Beaumont area. Most notably, Beaumont Radiology Group, where she was an office manager for twenty-one years, and Calvary Baptist Church, where she was an office manager for five years.
Her greatest joy came from raising her four children. Hazel wanted to raise them in a Christian home and would do whatever it took as a working mother to keep the four of them interested in church, school, and extracurricular activities. Her daughter, Judy, took twirling lessons and twirled at Stephen F. Austin High School. Both of her sons were active in Little League Baseball during all their eligible years. She was a team mother for her husband’s team for five years. Hazel worked with the youth of Calvary Baptist Church for twenty-five years. Even using her vacation time to accompany youth groups on mission trips. She enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the country with her husband and church group. But most of all, Hazel enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Tom Holland III of Beaumont; Mike Holland and his wife, Melanie, of Nome; and Jan Carpenter and her husband, Jim, of Allen; grandchildren, Eric Kellum, Ashlee Samms, Chad Holland, Ross Holland, Bret Holland, Jensen Carpenter, and Jett Carpenter; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Holland, Jr.; son, Mark Holland; daughter, Judy Pence; and siblings, Desi Hoyland, Betty Clopton, H.L. “Bud” Baggs, and Joe Ann Lillie.

Hazel & I had so much fun together at Collier Park. She loves to laugh & was always such a happy person. I will miss her so much.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15. I can only imagine the joy they felt when Hazel, her mind and earthly body fully renewed, walked up a golden stairway and there waiting at the top was TOM and JESUS. JESUS must have said “Welcome home Hazel. Well done my good and faithful servant”
