Helen Marie Patterson, 92, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Avalon Place, Kirbyville. She was born on May 24, 1929, in Cleveland, to Lela Caples and Claude Smith.

She is survived by her children, Lavern Walters and her husband, Naymon, Sr., of Saratoga; Brenda Morgan and her husband, Bradley, of Buna; and Judy Ruggles and her husband, Johnny, Jr., of Silsbee; grandchildren, Veronica Gannon and her husband, Delton; Naymon Walters, Jr. and his wife, Delanie; Tammy Castilaw and her husband, Kevin; and Jennifer Walters, all of Saratoga; Jody Vandver and his wife, Catherine and Jeffrey Vandver, all of Kountze; Kerby Waghorn and her husband, Michael and David Castle and his wife, Janna, all of Buna; Trevor Morgan and his wife, Hope and Tara Johnson and her husband, Greg, all of Evadale; and Emily Smith and her husband, Ty, of Kountze; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Alton Vandver and Claude Patterson; son, James Vandver; and great-granddaughter, Emlynn Johnson.

A gathering of Mrs. Patterson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Jordan Cemetery, Honey Island.

    It’s with a sad heart that I said my last goodbye to Ms Helen the last Sunday we had church before Closing our doors on acct of this virus which took so many of my family and friends like Ms. Helen! So sorry we were unable to attend her services but know we loved her and you,her family, with all our hearts! Will always remember her pretty smile and sweet words! God bless her family with peace and comfort knowing she’s in no more pain and is smiling down on all of us! RIP MS. HELEN. WELL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!
