Henry House, Jr.

December 20, 1926 - January 26, 2021

Henry House, Jr., 94, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021. He was born on December 20, 1926, in Reklaw, Texas, to Ada Channel House and Henry Hughes House.

“Jr.”, to all who knew him, spent his life as a hardworking family man, providing and caring for his wife and four daughters. He was a stoic and proud veteran of World War II. Though an exceptionally skilled welder and avid yard and groundskeeper for many, nothing brought him more pleasure or pride than his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If you were newly born into the family, you could count on spending hours rocking in the big chair with Pawpaw and if you were a new parent, you were always assured of having a trusted and very economical babysitter.

Survivors include his sister, Louise Ovesny of Texas City; his daughters, Linda Sanford and husband, Mike, of Sulphur, Louisiana; Kathie Tew and husband, Earl “Bubba”; Shirley House; Jeanette Sepaugh and husband, Stuart, all of Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren, Brad Sanford and wife, Alison, of Sewickley, Pennsylvania; Sara Sanford and wife, Beth, of Austin, Texas; Brandon Tew and wife, Angie, of Silsbee, Texas; Courtney Wilson and husband, Taylor, of Frisco, Texas; and Peyton Sepaugh of Beaumont, Texas; great-grandchildren, Reed and Tate Sanford of Sewickley, Pennsylvania; Parks Sanford of Austin, Texas; Zander Tew, Briana Aiena and Chloe Bowers, all of Silsbee, Texas; sister-in-law, L.V. Bearden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Annie Clytie House; brother, Travis House; sister-in-law, Melba Dowden; and brother-in-law, Willard Bearden.

A gathering of Mr. House’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

We haven’t seen Henry in quite a while. In the past we saw him and Clytie all dressed up in their Sunday best grocery shopping! He was a great man and took care of her until the end. I love all of his daughters and extend our condolences to them and their families!
