Firstly, my condolences to you Mrs. Muckleroy and to the family. Mr Muckleroy’s legacy will last a long time through many people. He was stern, honest, and a man of character. The last conversation I had with him was a testament to his way of life. I’m not sure if I laughed more at him or your reaction to him as we spent time at the lake. Either way the memories are firmly planted. May God comfort as only He can and may He grant peace to you and your family. Blessings. ab

A fine man, who convinced me in the 1950s while he was coaching our incorrigible crew and would line up across from you to show how it should be done, that I did not want to play across the line from an All American - ever. I'll never forget that famous football practice, yell, "MERCY, Jimmy Mac !!!" - Jimmy B--

I will remember Mr. Muckleroy’s vibrant presence. It just about arrived before him. A robust, conscientious man whose character made it possible for him to know HOW to be in charge.. So much in the lives of those he touched are better for his influence. His legacy legacy will reside in his children and grandchildren, two of whom will forever be favorites. of mine. My most heartfelt sympathy to Danielle and Lauren, who were such special students. because of their upbringing.

Dear Mary Kay and Family, I was so sad when I heard of Herbert’s post-surgery condition and so very sad to hear of his death. Not only did I know you both in Cedar Bayou years following along behind he and Tommy in football and thinking of him as bigger than life in stature and leadership, but I later was privileged to visit with him many times in his Principal and Superintendent roles and observe how esteemed he was by the students and faculty and the whole town. You and he didn’t forget your roots and I have seen you lending suppport to so many families, including mine, in times of bereavement in Cedar Bayou. You, your children and all the “grands” have lost a Rock and the world is a better place for him having been here. I can’t leave without mentioning that mischievious quality and ability to bring humor to all who knew him. Thinking of you with love, Patsy

Mr. Muckleroy was like a second father to me. I have so many fond memories of our camping trips together. He rescued a raccoon from the woods and we took it with us on a vacation to Arkansas. But the best memory was paddling Mr. Muckleroy around the lake in a big yellow blow up raft. I will miss seeing him and listening to his great stories. Mr. Muckleroy was such a great man, so strong and very sweet. Always took my side on things. He was a man of action, a great force in our community. For years he and his wife always showed up at my CASA events and then radKIDs helping to draw support for causes involving children. It was such a joy to be around them and have them both there. My memory of Mr. Herbert Muckleroy is that he was like a great black bear protecting and serving those he stood in charge of.

I cannot remember a time since 5th grade when you were not a part of my educational life. Thank you Mr. Muck for your guidance during my first year of teaching. You help mold me into a rock solid teacher. I didn’t understand at the time but over the years your comments were taken and told to other newbies in the profession. You will be missed .
