Howard Ervin Arceneaux
Howard Ervin Arceneaux entered his heavenly home on March 12, 2026. He was born in Beaumont, Texas, on January 7, 1948, to his parents, Frank Sterling “Blackie” Arceneaux and Evelyn Carson Arceneaux.
Howard graduated from South Park High School in 1966 and then entered the Navy. He served in Vietnam as a lineman and was a proud United States Navy Seabee. His time in Vietnam brought many hardships. PTSD and Agent Orange were his kryptonite, and the exposure affected him until his last breath. However, he did not let that define him.
Howard dedicated his working years to Goodyear Chemical, where he gained many friends whom he considered brothers. He was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors. Saltwater fishing for flounder and redfish was some of his favorite pastimes, along with shrimping with his dad and hunting. Among his harvests were a Boone and Crockett whitetail and a black bear using a compound bow.
He loved mowing grass and would spend many hours making his acreage look like a golf course. In his retirement years, Howard enjoyed staying busy—whether it was cleaning up trees after Hurricane Rita with his son-in-law Justin, running a small grass-mowing business, sitting outside in his rocking chair watching the Purple Martins with a cup of coffee, feeding the ducks and fish in the pond, or riding the golf cart around with the grandkids. He was always busy and “piddling.” His love language was helping others. If you needed anything, you could call Howard, and he would drop what he was doing to lend a helping hand.
His loss is greatly felt, especially by his loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte Rose Arceneaux. He is also survived by his son, Justin Arceneaux and his wife, Donella; his daughter, Jolie Hartwick and her husband, Justin Shane; and his son, Frank Arceneaux and his wife, Tonya. His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Delaney Rose Arceneaux, Zoey Marie Arceneaux, Kenly Jo Arceneaux, Colson Glen Burdick, Rowdy Shane Hartwick, and Rainy Jeaux Hartwick.
Howard was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed in the faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carson; and his daughter, Courtney.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 2955 South Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77707; the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Dear Charlotte & Family, I’m so sad to learn of Howard’s passing & that I heard about it too late to attend his services. I have only good memories of Howard, from our time in Giles Elementary to our South Park High School reunions, except for the time he towered over me at a reunion and noticed a balding spot in my hair. (He got a laugh out of that!) I would have loved visiting with him & you on that back porch, Charlotte. He was a giant of a man, not just in physical size. This world lost a caring heart & Heaven gained a guardian angel. I will keep you all in my thoughts & prayers.
Charolette, my heart is breaking for you. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Having recently walked this path myself, I know how overwhelming and painful these days can be. Please know you are loved by so many people that love you. God be with you.
Charlotte,
So sorry for your loss. I knew Howard from the time we worked together at Goodyear on the D shift and off work too. He was a great guy and good friend and taught me a few things along the way. He will be missed . Albert Floyd
Charlotte, WE just heard about Howard, we are so Sorry! I will pray for you, i know it must be hard, but you know God will help you!! Wish we could have been to his funeral, but we didnt know until today! Praying for you and your family!
My love and prayers to all of you.
I was very sad to hear of Howard’s passing. I worked with him at Goodyear for about 6 years. He was a kind and thoughtful man and I remember him at work and church as a very good man to know and be friends with.
Please accept my utmost sympathy for your loss, as I lost my husband to cancer back in 2010. God will get you through this and you can take comfort knowing Howard is now enjoying heaven.
So sorry to hear of Howard’s passing. I worked with him many years ago in Core Maintenance at Goodyear. He was a gentle Giant. Such a nice man. He will be missed.

Dear Charlotte and family you are in my thoughts and prayers. The loss of a spouse or Dad leaves such a big impact on your life. Hold on to those precious memories and know that friends have also experienced the same loss. Take it one day at a time. Love you sweet friend!
Dear Charlotte, so sorry to hear about Howard. He is in the arms of Jesus and no longer sick. Cherish your memories.
Charlotte, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May you be surrounded by the love of your family and happy memories.
So sorry Charlotte. Hang onto good memories!

Jolie,
My family and I send love and strength to you and your family. Over the coming days I hope you all find some peace in the stories that others will share about your dad or hopefully they trigger a fun/sweet memory that you may have forgotten over time. I remember meeting your dad for the first time. When he opened the front door and walked outside I vividly remember thinking, “dang, that’s a tall dude”. That night you and I went to Casa Ole and on the way home we stopped for gas and you were writing your mileage down. I asked what you were doing and you said my dad has me do this for maintenance. As an adult, every time I take my car in for service, I remember your notebook and your dad’s diligence. I know this is random but know that your dad let an impression on a kid he met a few times almost 30 years ago.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Charlotte, Justin and Jolie…so sorry to hear about Howard. Hang on to the good memories and good times…Those will see you through!! I know he will be missed. He will always be “Howie” to me!! and OH!! how he hated it when I call him that!!!!
Howard, Honey, you just left me and Mrs. Daisy here to fin for ourselves. We love you so much and you will be missed by many. Call me when you get there and let me know what it’s like. LOL. YOUR WORK HERE IS DONE, SO GO REST HIGH ON THAT MOUNTAIN ⛰️, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. CHARLOTTE AND FAMILY YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL BE INOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. RIP 😇🌹🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
