Jahria Cox

August 4, 1994 - September 13, 2021

Jahria Dena Cox was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the fourth of six children, on August 4, 1994, to Merlon and Valencia Cox. Her family later migrated to Lexington, Kentucky where Jahria graduated high school with honors. Jahria graduated Cum Laude with a Chemical Engineering Degree from Tuskegee University in 2016 and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Jahria began her engineering career at Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati, OH and later was employed by ExxonMobil. Jahria met and later married her college sweetheart Damien Frederick.

Jahria possessed a heart of gold and cared about others tremendously. She was very thoughtful and wanted to dedicate her life to helping others. She loved reading and listening to books and also binge-watching TV and movie series. She also loved sweet smelling candles, comfortable blankets, and water bottles that held massive amounts of water. She was loved by all that she came in contact with. She left an impact on people that she didn’t even realize. Jahria was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She was truly an angel on Earth.

Jahria departed her earthly home on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX.

She is survived by her husband, Damien Frederick; a precious daughter, Harper Frederick; and a resilient son, Kayden Frederick, all of Beaumont; parents, Valencia and Merlon Cox, of Lexington, Kentucky; one sister, Jaleesa Cox; four brothers, Jarius, Jameel, Javari, and Janoah Cox, all of Lexington, Kentucky; grandmother, Gloria Rowland, of Atlanta, Georgia; in-laws Michael and Catherine Frederick of Chester, South Carolina; nephews, Malik and Malcolm, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, line sisters, and other family members. Jahria will be truly missed by all but always held dear to our hearts.

A gathering of Mrs. Cox’s family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m., at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Highway 90 at Greenpond Road, Beaumont.

This is truly a hard pill to swallow; like a very bad dream that you never awake from.
I was very proud of you Jahria. You were beautiful, intelligent, respected and responsible. You loved family and always volunteered to pitch in and help out wherever and however you could. I looked forward to many more of your visits to Atlanta. God had a different plan. We don’t always understand His ways but we will trust and accept His will. The love we have for you will be poured into Damien, Harper and Kayden. They will know you through us. Love you NiecyPoo.

My baby Jahria. Birthed by my sister but you were my baby too. This is definitely a hard one on all of us. I can believe I writing this and you are no longer with us. You were always sweet. Very responsible and you accomplished a lot in a short time. I really wanted a different outcome. We don’t always trust God’s ways but we will always trust His will. He picked a precious jewel indeed. I will hold your memory close to my heart forever. We will share you memory with your precious babies. Rest well my dear NiecyPoo Jahria. I love you.

    Your favorite auntie Sabrina
