James B. Fitzpatrick, Jr.
James Bernard Fitzpatrick, Jr., 93, of Vidor, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1932, to Mary Louise Slane Fitzpatrick and James Bernard Fitzpatrick, Sr., in Hughes, Arkansas, and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the Texaco refinery in Port Arthur, having served in several roles there during his career. In the years between the Army and Texaco, he was a television repairman. He was also a volunteer for the Town of Lakeview Fire Department and Police Department back in the 1960’s.
James enjoyed spending time with his family, and he loved animals, especially cats. When his two oldest sons were children, he served as a Cub Scout leader, and as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 101 in Port Arthur. He was a beloved role model for many boys who learned about camping, survival, and general life skills.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three older sisters, and his wife, Donna Fitzpatrick. Survivors include his children, James Earl Fitzpatrick and his wife, Lesli, of Austin; Thomas Paul Fitzpatrick of Houston; Toni Hernandez and her husband, Gustavo, of Beaumont; Angela Peevey of Vidor; and Tommy Peevey and his wife, Betsy, of Sulfur, Louisiana; grandchildren, Michael, Anena, Antonio, Josh, Justin, and Taylor; and nine great-grandchildren.
A gathering of Mr. Fitzpatrick’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
