James Cairn Havard

December 30, 1940 - June 21, 2025

Funeral Services with Military Honors for James Cairn Havard, 84, of Kountze, Texas, will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Little Rock Assembly of God Church, 5970 Highway 326 North, Kountze, at 12:30 p.m., with a gathering of family and friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment will follow at Hooks Cemetery, 4792 Hooks Cemetery Loop, Kountze.

James Havard was born December 30, 1940, in Morrow, Louisiana to the late Carrie Pullen Havard and James Monroe Havard.

In his youth, his family transitioned to Nederland, Texas, where James attended Nederland High School. Upon his graduation, James made a dutiful decision to serve his country in the United States Air Force where he worked as a Machinist.

Upon completing his enlistment, James returned to the Nederland area where he continued his chosen trade as a Machinist at Jefferson Chemical, eventually transferring to Huntsman Corporation in Groves, Texas where after a long career he would retire. James was a master craftsman, capable of performing all types of work. Over his life he utilized those skills to impact many lives along with countless hours of talk and humor. There wasn’t a job or a person that he would turn away as he went above and beyond to help those in need. Those who knew him well will agree that James was always working hard. His work ethic was a testament to his character in the way that he treated others. He was always ready to help and never met a stranger.

James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Burnal Havard, Belvin Havard and his wife, Patsy, and Tommy Havard. James is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; brother, Herbert Havard; sons, James Mitchell Havard and his wife, Kimberly; Michael Clinton Havard and his wife, Amber; Matthew Joseph Havard and his wife, Javonne; stepsons, Gene Zunker, Jason Zunker and his wife, Biljana; and sister-in-law, Nancy Havard. As well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
