James “Clinton” Saunders
James Clinton Saunders, 81, of Kirbyville, died Monday, September 11, 2023. He was born December 18, 1941, to Dannie Mae Findley Saunders and Elbert William Saunders.
He loved his family dearly and always enjoyed spending time with them. One of his favorite ways to do this was by porch sitting as he called it with a hot cup of coffee or a cold beer, he could sit on this porch all day and loved being outside.
Jim “Pojo” was a long-haul truck driver who LOVED being on the road, seeing the sites of America and her history in person, one of his favorite subjects! He was a fun-loving soul who loved to go to karaoke with his high school sweetheart Betty Lou and all their dear friends.
Jim was a compassionate, loving man, patient and slow to anger he loved his family and treasured all of his time with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He looked forward to being reunited in heaven with his son Jimmy.
Jim passed with his cherished family at home at his side with hands held. He will be incredibly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pojo singing off “10-99”, for you non truckers, that’s “Mission complete”.
James is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Saunders; daughter, Patty Mae Petree and her husband, Billy, of Kirbyville; grandchildren, Tina Bush and her husband, Jared, of Lumberton; Katy Wilkes and her husband, Richie, of Port Neches; great-grandchildren, Lil Jared Bush, Jace Bush, Saffron Claire Wilkes, and Richard James Wilkes; siblings, Patricia Whitman and her husband, Bill, of Spurger; and Jerry Wayne Saunders and his wife, Sue, of Conroe.
He is preceded in death by his parents and was reunited with his son, James Clinton Saunders, Jr.
Mr. Saunders’ cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
