James “Jim” Wesley Richey, Jr.

July 6, 1940 - February 16, 2026

James “Jim” Wesley Richey, Jr., 85, of Winnie, died Monday, February 16, 2026. He was born to Willie Alston Richey and James Wesley Richey, Sr., on July 6, 1940, in Houston.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Juanita Abshier Richey, of Winnie; children, James Wesley Richey III and his wife, Mary Beth, of Anahuac; Carla Noreen Richey Manuel and her husband, Rodger, Victoria Whitington and her husband, Keith, and Levi Richey, all of Winnie; grandchildren, Megan Richey and her husband, Cody, Rachael Richey and her partner, Mike Lewis, Kyla Richey and her partner, Axel Foster, Whitney Rivers and her wife, Emily, Brendan Denton, and Madi Denton; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Netterville, Melza Netterville, Jaxxon Brown, Kowen Lewis, Khayden Raymond, Kheagan Raymond, Khyser Raymond, Olivia Rivers, and Ruby Rivers; and sister, Patricia Craigen and her husband, Clyde, of College Station.

Mr. Richey enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and especially loved family get togethers. Above all else he adored spending time with his wife, Juanita. Jim said he loved two things most of all, the first being Jesus and the second, Juanita. They spent 58 wonderful years happily married. Jim spent his life on the road trucking before retiring after 34 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Andrew “Andy” Richey.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Richey may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105

A gathering of Mr. Richey’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m. with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His interment will follow at Abshier Cemetery, Devers.

    To my pawpaw, I love you more then you will ever fathom and I cant thank you enough for showing me the kind of love we can only dream of the way you loved mawmaw was one of a kind. I knew this day would come but never could have prepared me to have to live life without you. I wish grandpa’s lived forever because I have had the best! I promise you we will watch over mawmaw. Please tell pawpaw Jake and mawmaw sug I said hello. I know you were greeted by so many of our loved ones when you entered those shiny gates. I promise to tell Jaxxon and Kowen all about you and your memory will live on. Sure will miss all the famous pawpaw concoctions you would whip up in the kitchen. I’m not going to say goodbye because its see you later because I plan to see you again one day with arms wide open. I love you pawpaw and the saying says if love could have saved you you would have lived forever.
