James Michael "Mike" Kavanaugh

August 10, 1965 - February 27, 2021

James Michael “Mike” Kavanaugh, 55, of Nederland, died Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Westchase Health and Rehabilitation, Houston. He was born on August 10, 1965, in Port Arthur, to Mary Elizabeth Scucchi Kavanaugh and James Francis Kavanaugh III. Mike was an Eagle Scout, truck driver, and a member of Three Rivers Council and Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Kavanaugh, of Nederland; brother, Chris Kavanaugh and his wife, Daphanie, of Beaumont; paternal aunt, Boots LeBlanc; maternal uncle, Thad; and aunts, Martha, Charlotte, and Joy.

He is preceded in death by his father.

A gathering of Mr. Kavanaugh’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.

Mike and I went to Sycamore together and were in Cub Scouts together. Time separated us for 40 years, and then we went to church together the last few years. I will miss him. Condolences to his family.

Praying for all the family . It was a blessing to know Mike and have him be a part of our B A Ritter Senior Citizens Center for all these years. He lived to play mexican train with us and shoot pool and most of all visit with everyone . Wewill miss him
