James Toler, Jr.

James Thomas Toler, Jr., 87, of Nederland, died Tuesday, January 25, 2022. He was born May 6, 1934, in Longview, to Dot Davis Toler and James Thomas Toler, Sr.

James was a United States Army veteran and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Nederland. He retired from Bayer, Orange after twenty-two years of service as a mechanical engineer.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Doretha “D.D.” Toler, of Nederland; daughters, Linda Herring and husband, Bill, of Vivian, Louisiana; Valorie Casey, of Webster; Paula Cunningham, of Boerne; and Karen Mullins and husband, Keith, of Buna; sons, Johnny Bruton and wife, Debbie, of Shreveport, Louisiana; James T. Toler III and wife, Traci, of Richmond; Michael Toler and wife, Sandy, of Rockwall; and Scott Toler and wife, Angelique, of College Station; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christy Benton; sister, Janell Stone; brother, Don Toler; great-granddaughter, Kate Nyert; and son-in-law, Kirby Casey.

A gathering of Mr. Toler’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
