Janice “Jan” Kiker

March 15, 1965 - May 3, 2025

Janice “Jan” Kiker, 60, of Austin, passed away surrounded by love on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Cancer may have stolen her life, but it never touched her spirit, her passion, her compassion for others, her sense of humor, or her love for her family and friends.

Born on March 15, 1965, to Charles and Doris Kiker of Fannett, Texas, Jan was the fourth of five children. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin and was a talented artist, art director, photographer and lover of music who was always up for a gallery tour, a music festival and nature hikes. Jan travelled the world, both for work and for pleasure, but her happy place was at the beach with her family cooking big meals and boiling crawfish. Generous to her core, Jan would give you the shirt off her back if it would bring you comfort. Raised in a small town, she was always the first to show up with a casserole, a rare hug and her dry wit to console friends through surgeries, divorces, deaths and bad days, and she was always on board for a celebration. She was just an amazingly good, funny and kind person.

Survivors include her father, Charles A. Kiker, Jr. of Fannett; siblings, Karen Kiker of Austin; Chuck Kiker and his wife, Kim, of Beaumont; David Kiker of Austin; Sharon Adams and her husband, Mark, of Kyle; and Julie Dean Grammier and her husband, Ben, of Fannett; eight nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Kiker; stepmother, Beverly Devillier Kiker; grandparents, Ferrell and Charles “Red” Kiker; and her constant sidekick, Mozie.

A gathering of Ms. Kiker’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday May 9, 2025, at St Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Beaumont, Texas, Donation Link; or Austin Pets Alive!, 1156 West Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas, Donation Link.

I’m so sorry to hear of Jan’s passing. I worked with her at the State in the early 90’s. Loved her sarcasm and big laugh. Say hi to Alan for me.

To the Kiker family and friends:
I had the honor and pleasure of knowing Jan for more than 15 years and working for her for about 6 years at both Freescale and NXP. She was hands down my favorite manager to work for because she had a way of being honest and caring with her feedback but still lift you up so you could do your best.

She became my friend and mentor, and I could always turn to her to ask her the smallest questions to get an honest answer. Jan had an amazing smile, a wicked dry sense of humor and a very big heart. I will miss her immensely.

I’ll continue to pray for her and for you all through this most difficult time. I know her legacy will not be forgotten.

My condolences to the Kiker family on the passing of Jan. Jan and I were work colleagues at Motorola, Freescale and NXP. Jan was such a positive influence with her team and I enjoyed providing HR support to her for a number of years.
Jan fought a courageous and brave battle, never backing away or down from continuing to contribute, while she battled her illness.
May she Rest In Peace and no longer will she suffer.

    Regards and Prayers
