Janice Yvonne Stanley, affectionately known as “Bona,” was born in Houston October 11, 1947, to Agnes Laverne Freeman and Jessie Paul Farris Freeman. She passed away on February 3, 2026, leaving a legacy of love and adventure. She is survived by her only daughter, Shelly, and her son-in-law, Eric, along with their three sons: Randall, his wife Lydia, and their baby Edie of Colorado; Jesse, his wife Shelby, and their two daughters, Jezzlynn and Jreya of Virginia; and Ian, along with his fiancé Hannah of Maine. Yvonne is also survived by her beloved Aunt LeBland McAdams, her sister LaNell & (Larry) Winzer and Nieces-Nephews, Tanya (Michael) LeVeck, Loyd (Rachel) Winzer, Larry Glenn Jr. (Danyell) Winzer, April (Jason) Sebesta. As well as Great Nieces-Nephews, Hayden & Morgan LeVeck,Dylan & Madison Winzer, Jaicee & Iris Winzer, and Kate Sebesta. Along with her very close friend & sister-in-law Linda Stanley, and many cousins and extended family members.

Yvonne returned to her roots in Winnie after spending nearly 40 years in Wyoming. She is celebrated for her adventurous spirit, always ready to explore new places and seek out unique treasures in antique shops. Yvonne had a strong passion for crafting and was a fixture in her community, dedicating her time to volunteer with various organizations, always eager to give back to those in need. An independent and strong-willed woman, Yvonne faced her health challenges head-on after suffering a stroke in August 2024. With determination, she set three rehabilitation goals and achieved them, astonishing everyone with her resilience. In September, she traveled to Maine to witness her youngest grandson Ian receive his white coat for medical school—a proud moment she cherished. Later, in November, she made the trip to Jesse in Virginia to spend time with her great-grandchildren, Jezzlynn and Jreya, and in December with Randall, she celebrated Christmas in Colorado and Wyoming with family. Sadly, following her return, Yvonne’s health began to decline, and she faced additional strokes and seizures that ultimately led to her untimely departure.

A memorial service to celebrate Yvonne’s life will be held at Broussard’s Mortuary in Winnie, TX, on February 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your local food bank in Yvonne’s honor, supporting her wish for others to continue serving their communities. Yvonne’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, reminding us to embrace life with adventure and generosity.
