Japheth Bouknight

Japheth Allen Bouknight, 23, of Nederland, died Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born December 22, 1999, in Quitman, Texas to Amanda Michelle DeVries Bouknight and Gordon Allen Bouknight II.

Japheth was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved supporting his team! He enjoyed wrestling, both watching and showing off moves on his younger cousins and sister.  He loved spending time with his dogs and visiting the beach.  He was great with his hands and learned woodworking in high school.  He made several beautiful pieces he was very proud of.

Japheth was a big man with an even bigger heart, whose goal in life was to make sure his mother and sister would always be taken care of.   They were his life, and he loved them dearly.

Son, brother, grandson, nephew or cousin – you have left a huge void in our lives leaving this earth way too soon.  We promise to fill it with loving memories until we meet again in Heaven!

Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents, Betty and George DeVries of Nederland; paternal grandparents, Kay and Gordon Bouknight of Gilmer; siblings, Tchanee Meissner and husband, Amous and Alaysha Holmes and husband, Tobias; and nieces and nephews, Kadence Meissner, Gracie Gates, Sawyer Gates, Maddox Holmes, and Amia Holmes.

A gathering of Japheth’s family and friends will begin at 8:30 a.m., with his memorial service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
