Jean M. Parker
Our precious mother, Jean M. Parker, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022. She purposed her life towards others. Most importantly, her husband, children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy of love and devotion for family and friends.
Jean was born Clara Jean Morris on September 28, 1933, to Clyde and Lenora Morris in Lacey’s Springs, Alabama. After graduating Cotaco High School, Jean attended and graduated from Florence State Teacher’s College (now University of North Alabama). It is while there, that Jean met the love of her life, Wesley A. Parker. They were wed on June 11, 1955, in Lacey’s Springs, AL.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Wes; her parents, Clyde and Lenora Parker; brothers, Arnold, Edwin and Clark Morris; sister, Ruth Burt and 2 children who died in infancy. Jean Parker is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Kellett of Huntsville, AL and brother, Kelly Morris of Brentwood, TN; her sons, John P. Parker of Lumberton, TX and Wally E. Parker of College Station, TX; and two grandsons, Jason S. Parker of Houston, TX and Christian E. Parker, of San Marcos, TX.
Jean will be remembered for the love for her family and love of children, as evidenced by her chosen profession of teaching. Proper grammar was not an option with her! She will also be remembered for her love of all things green. She took pride in obtaining the Master Gardner designation. While known for kindness, you would cast doubt on that if you engaged her and Wes in a round of Bridge. They played at a high level for many years. Jean will also be remembered for the pure joy she had for cooking for others and spending time with her grandchildren. Jean was a member of the Huntsville Church of Christ in Huntsville, Texas.
The family would particularly like to recognize Jean’s kind and loving caregivers, Sharon, Heather and Carey and the Granger family for all their help and thoughtfulness. Thank you for going above and beyond.
Mrs. Parker’s memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a gathering of her family and friends to follow until 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont. An interment service will be held in Lacey’s Springs, AL, with date to be announced.
