Jeanne Anne Howland

Jeanne Anne Reimer Howland, 87, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully at home, on December 13, 2021.

Jeanne was born in Sulphur, Louisiana, to the late Harvey and Vera (Landry) Reimer, and grew up in Orange, Texas. She was a member of the Stark High School Bengal Guard, and following High School became a member of the Water Demons and Debs Ski Club of Orange. She was able to travel to out-of-state competitions and received trophies and ribbons for her accomplishments. Jeanne owned a salon and worked as a hairdresser for almost twenty-five years, then returned to school, to study for and obtain her Real Estate license.

In 1984, she met her soulmate, John L. Howland, and for the remainder of their days they were honeymooners. Jeanne believed her family was her greatest accomplishment and everyone she encountered used endearing words like compassionate, good friend and giving to describe her. Jeanne’s life was well lived with purpose and love. She will be loved and missed always.

She is survived by her daughter, Roxalene Whitaker Gautreaux, of Lumberton: brothers, Harvey Reimer and wife Patti, of Crosby and James Reimer and his wife Elizabeth, of Alvin; granddaughters, Crystal Serratt and her husband Ash, of San Antonio and Catherine Simmons and her husband Chas, of Lumberton; stepdaughter, Evelyn Howland Bird and her husband Ronnie; stepsons, Charles Howland and his wife Leslie, of Sugar Land and Robert Howland, of Kingwood; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Garrett Hampton, Mia Munoz, Brandon Green, and Jack and Macy Simmons. She will be missed greatly by her little Boston Terrier, Holly.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Howland; infant daughter, Pamela Sue Whitaker; sister, Rosemary Reimer Bradwell; and brother, Jack Reimer.

The family wishes to extend its deep gratitude to Jeanne’s caregiver, Mary Broussard, for the love, strength and devotion she so steadfastly gave, and to the nursing staff at Altus Hospice, who showed compassion, understanding and support during Jeanne’s illness. These ladies all became more than caregivers, they became extended family.

A gathering of Mrs. Howland’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with her memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s, Crematorium, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Broussard’s, in memory of Jeanne Anne Howland, to assist with the cost of funeral expenses or to any organization of one’s choice.
