Jeff “R.J.” Gunter, 62, of Beaumont, died Saturday, April 17, 2021. He was born on May 24, 1958, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Carolyn Bell Gunter and James Roland Gunter.

Survivors include his father, James Roland Gunter, of Lumberton; sister, Shari Kai Whitmire, of Lumberton; nieces, Kristen Whitmire and her fiancé, Jonah Fuerstenberg, of Groves, Kaitlin Huckeba and her husband, Dylan, of Lumberton, and Kari Whitmire and her partner, Tyler Whiteside, of Lumberton; great-niece, Adelynn, of Lumberton; sister-in-law, Kathy Spitzer, of Dallas; brother-in-law, Bob Collins; nieces, Rebecca and Kimberly Spitzer, of Austin and Stacey Orr-Bossert.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Gunter; sons, Matthew Doyle Gunter and Jacob Nathaniel Gunter; mother, Carolyn Bell Gunter; and brothers-in-law, Crockett Wayne Whitmire and David Spitzer; sister-in-law, Cheryl Collins; nephew, Sean Orr; and niece, Jennifer Spitzer.

A gathering of Mr. Gunter’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His graveside will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 26, 2021, at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Beaumont.

It deeply saddens me that Jeff has left us all! Contrary to that statement, I know he is in a better place beside Barbara Ann, Matt and Jake. RIP Jeff; you are all together again.
