Jeri P. Floyd

January 15, 1957 - September 27, 2025

The sun shone a little brighter on January 15, 1957, when Jeri Gay Peet graced the world with her sweet presence. The middle child of Carole and JD Peet, Jeri grew up in Port Neches and graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School. On April 30, 1977, Jeri married Ronnie Floyd, later welcoming daughters, Marlee and Madi.

Jeri’s occupation may have been accounting clerk for Provost Umphrey, but her title was Super Mom. She cooked dinner for her family every night and on Sundays, she made pancakes for myriads of hungry customers. Young athletes flocked to the Floyd girls’ teams, specifically to devour Jeri’s legendary pigs-in-a-blanket. When she wasn’t in the kitchen, Jeri was in the car, taking her girls to their various athletic activities and lessons. And she worked fulltime!

Jeri enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to Colorado, where she was more likely to admire the view than to ski. She loved getting together with friends and family, her eyes lighting up, her greeting, “I’m so glad to see you!” warming every heart. She was the epitome of kindness, unless you messed with one of her kids, when she morphed into “Jer-Bear.”

Jeri adored the Texans. Her shrieks could be heard for blocks as she cheered for her favorite player, J.J. Watt. Some have wondered whether it was football she embraced or the hunk that wore # 99? Jeri cherished her vino, her family, and J.J. – not necessarily in that order.

Jeri faced challenges and adversity in her life with courage, uncomplaining and optimistic. At the most difficult of times, her motto remained, “Tomorrow is another day, Scarlett.”

Jeri is survived by her daughter, Madi and her partner, Ian Allison; the father of her daughters, Ronnie Floyd; her sister, Lynn Keeney and her husband and (Jeri’s nemesis), Floyd; her sister-in-law, Donna Robicheaux and her husband Kent; her nephews, Jason Hunt and Hunter Keeney and his wife, Beth; her niece, Erin Dyson and her husband, Brent; her son-in-law David Willingham; her great-nieces and nephew Jackson and Lillian Hunt; Alice and Layla Keeney; Ana, Blake and Betty Dyson; and her beloved grand-dog, Winston.

Jeri was preceded in death by her parents Carole and JD Peet; her brother, JD Peet, Jr.; her daughter, Marlee; her niece, Jillian Hunt; and her great-nephew, Welles Dyson.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Jeri’s devoted caregivers, Misty, Beth, Peachy and Sarah.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, DC 29990-1891.

A gathering of Jeri’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the Trinity Mausoleum at Oak Bluff Cemetery, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. To celebrate Jeri’s affection for her favorite team, attendees are encouraged to wear their Texans gear.

When I think of Jeri, I think…beautiful smile, sweetness and so kind. My thoughts and prayers are with you, her family, and all those who were lucky enough to know her. May God wrap his arms around you and give you peace. She is no longer suffering and dancing in Heaven.

    LEIGH JORDAN says:

Lynn, You and Jeri were always the sweetest to me especially in my first years at Provost Umphrey. I loved her talks when I would go back for something in accounting and stay for awhile to visit. I’ve missed her hugs and smile since she left PU. I tried to stay in touch on facebook etc.. and just hated hearing she wasn’t doing well. What a precious guardian angel you now have along with you girl. I miss you Lynn. My prayers and love always. Leigh

I am sorry to hear of Jeri’s passing. She was such a lovely person to work with. She was always smiling, easy going, smart as a whip; just, a great person to be around. She’s the kind of person the world needs more of; but more importantly, the kind of person you never forget. Fly high.Jeri❤️

    Peachy says:

    Empty Chair

The silence is too loud now, a new kind of sound.
The clock keeps ticking, but nothing turns around.
No call to answer, no cup to fill,
Just the quiet ghost of a presence, holding still.
I cannot reach out to hold your hand.
    I cannot explain, or understand.
The years I spent, a steady guide,
Faded now like the turning tide.
I learned the rhythm of your sleep and waking.
The small tremors that would start your shaking.
I knew the stories you would tell again,
And how to navigate the fading of your memory, my friend.
The ache isn’t for the work, the endless days and nights.
It is for the small, lost, ordinary lights.
The laugh that flickered, the gaze that swam.
The quiet courage of the person you became.
I miss the purpose, the clear, bright need.
The care that was my single, simple creed.
Now the quiet leaves an empty space,
A waiting kindness for a vanished face.
And if I feel a strange relief, a lighter breath I take,
It is not for your going, but for your sake.
That you are free from pain, a soul at last at ease.
And I, your keeper, am now left with these,
These quiet rooms, and my own slow, certain grief.
