Jerry B. Templin

February 18, 1935 - May 2, 2023

Jerry B. Templin, 88, of La Grange, Texas went to his Heavenly Father’s home, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, after a short battle with AML. Jerry was born to Jesse Robert Templin and Ollie Irene Sanderson (Templin) on February 18, 1935, in Peacock, Texas of Stonewall County.

Jerry graduated from Brownwood High School in 1953, where he has kept many lifelong friends and was still a Brownwood Lion at heart.

In 1958, Jerry married Velda Carlene Mills of Santa Anna, Texas.

Jerry joined the Army National Reserves where he served five years in Fort Hood, Texas.

After leaving the Army, Jerry went to work for Union Texas Petroleum which brought his family to Hamshire, Texas. This is where he and Carlene raised their family and made many friends. Jerry always said that Hamshire-Fannett was the perfect place to raise a family.

Jerry retired from Mobile Chemical in 1997. His position with Mobile Chemical took him overseas and allowed for some wonderful travel for him and Carlene.

After thirty-eight years of marriage, in 1996 Jerry lost Carlene and took an early retirement. He bought a lake place at his beloved Lake Brownwood, where many memories were made with his friends, extended family, children, and grandchildren.

He married his second wife, Patsy Mills, in 1998 and moved to Olton, Texas. While living in Olton he served many years on their City Council and Economic Development Board as well as being very involved with his Church, volunteering.  At this point in Jerry’s life, he ramped up his love for Golf and played often.

After his second wife’s passing in 2016, Jerry moved to La Grange, Texas to be close to his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He spent his time gardening, spending time with his family and watching his grandsons play his favorite sport of baseball.

Jerry is survived by his son, Ron Templin of Ball Ground, Georgia; daughter, Lisa Blasig and her husband, Michael, of La Grange, Texas; grand-children, Scott Blasig and wife Rachael, of Weimar, Texas; Jill Weishuhn and husband, Jordan, of Weimar, Texas; and Addison Templin of Ball Ground, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Eli Blasig, Jace Weishuhn, Maddox Blasig and Jolie Weishuhn; as well as a special friend, Peggy Marshall.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carlene Templin; wife, Patsy Templin; son, Randall Templin; brother, Joe Templin; and sister, Dean Meinecke.

A gathering of Mr. Templin’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Templin’s honor may be made to the HealthWell Foundation, P.O. Box 489, Buckeystown, Maryland 21717, or online to www.healthwellfoundation.org/donate. This is a foundation that helps fund medication grants for those with AML.

Jerry left a lasting impression of what a Godly, Christian Man, Husband, Father, and Friend should be. His quick wit and infectious personality will be missed by many.
