Jerry Wayne Fountain

June 19, 1946 - January 5, 2026

Jerry Wayne Fountain, 79, passed away on January 5, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on June 19, 1946, in a small two-bedroom home on Avenue B in Nederland, Texas, to William Sam Fountain and Exa Dana Harvill Fountain.

Jerry grew up alongside his parents and brother, Robert, learning the value of hard work through gardening, hunting, and helping in the family cabinet shop located in their garage. Weekends were often spent at the family camp along the Sabine River in Bon Wier, Texas. Family was always central to the Fountains, with reunions holding special meaning—especially the annual Labor Day gatherings at Spring Ridge Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas.

A proud graduate of Nederland High School, Class of 1964, Jerry played trumpet in the marching band. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years as a Sergeant (E-4) Aircraft Loadmaster. After his military service, he attended Lamar Institute of Technology, earning a certification in Instrumentation.

Jerry dedicated 32 years of service to Mobil Oil before retiring in 1999. An active man, he enjoyed playing baseball and bowling and continued working part-time until the age of 78.

In 1968, Jerry married Aldera Wilson, with whom he had two children. On November 5, 1983, he married the love of his life, Veronica Wellons, in the log cabin they built together in Fannett, Texas. There, they raised their four children and created a home that became a cherished gathering place for family. Their cabin remains filled with laughter during holidays, game nights, and everyday visits from children and grandchildren.

Jerry was dearly loved and will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud dad, and a cherished Paw Paw.

Jerry is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Veronica Wellons, brother Robert Fountain and his wife, Kay, son Jason Fountain and his wife, Jessie; daughters Kristi Young and her husband, Steve, Mysti Loukas, Sarah Dotey and her husband, Danny; grandchildren, Kelsey Young, Dylan Young and his wife, Macy, Alexis Murray and her husband, Mason, Adyn, Adyson, and Asher Todd, Gabriel Loukas, Jacob Morton and his fiancé, Mackenzie, Isabella Wilson, Elijah Ruiz, Kayla Raggio and her husband Nathan, Tyler Crites and his wife Kayla, and Layne Dotey; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.  A special thanks to Bonnie Hansen for her unwavering care and support.
