Jerry Wayne Weisse
Jerry Wayne Weisse
With hearts full of love and sorrow, the family of Jerry Wayne Weisse announces his peaceful passing.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of Hamshire, Texas, born December 29th, 1941, at home when at that time, the doctor delivering him had to ride in on horseback from Anahuac. Cherished son of the late Ernest and Edna Weisse, his life was deeply rooted in family, friendship and the simple joys that made each day a gift. Jerry provided for his family working as a pipefitter belonging to the Local 195 out of Beaumont, Texas, and as a truck driver. He loved to dance, sing, and spent time in a band in his early years, he also enjoyed frequent casino runs with his wife, Mary Ellen… He enjoyed Folgers coffee, Marlboro red cigarettes, his dogs, hunting, fishing and spending time with each of his grandchildren.
Jerry Weisse was welcomed into Heaven by loved ones who went before him; his parents, Ernest and Edna Weisse; brother, Ernest Lloyd Weisse; his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Ray Breaux; his brothers-in-law, Kirk Joseph Breaux, Curtis Breaux, Robert John Diaz; and nephew, Curtis Dewayne Breaux.
Survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Mary Ellen Breaux Weisse with whom he shared a lifetime of love and laughter (64 years); his sister, Judy Williams and her husband Hershel of Hamshire; sisters-in-law, Lisa (Breaux) Diaz, of Groves, Denise (Breaux) LeTulle of Leander, Pat (Savoy) Breaux of Port Acres, and Carmen (Breaux) Grass and her husband Mark of Fannett. Proud and loving father to Tammy Kaye Weisse Benson of Hamshire, Michael Lloyd Weisse and wife Julie of Winnie, and Anthony Wayne Weisse (Aka Tony) of Lockhart; grandchildren, Dustin Melanson of Hamshire, Raygin Melanson and wife Malloree of Nederland, Kearston Weisse of Winnie, Wasey Weisse of Winnie, Kylor Weisse and wife Brooks of Hamshire, Michayla (Weisse) Spurgeon and husband Tyler of Port Neches; step-grandchild, Natalie Rose and husband Brandon of Hamshire. His heart was full with the blessing of his Great-Grandchildren, Hannah Melanson, Dawson Melanson, Baylor Melanson, Burklee Melanson, Jolie Weisse, Hallie Weisse, Andie Weisse, Madeline Spurgeon, Jacob West and Braylee Rose.
Though his chair may now be empty and his guitar strings stilled, Jerry’s laughter, love and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all that knew him. His legacy is one of family, friendship and finding beauty in life’s simplest moments.
A gathering of Mr. Weisse’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2025, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie .
