Jesse Buckner “Buck” Williams

Jesse Buckner “Buck” Williams, 81, died Friday, June 23, 2023. He was born March 23, 1942 in Electra Texas, the eldest son of Lila Freeman and Dr. Preston Williams. The family moved to Beaumont when Jess was 10 years old when his father accepted a position with Lamar University.

Jesse attended school in Beaumont graduating from Beaumont High School in 1960. He completed his undergraduate degree at Lamar University before enlisting in the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam. Upon discharge, Jesse obtained his law degree from the University of Texas. For 20 years he was an assistant district attorney in the Jefferson County Family Law division followed by private practice for several years.

Jesse was an avid soccer player and a passionate believer in physical fitness. He had a smile that would melt your heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Scott and his wife, Rebecca, and Brad Williams.

Survivors include his wife and schoolmate, Nancy Singleton Williams, nephew Robert Williams and wife, Stacy, his step grandchildren Blair, Blake, and his fiance’, Richelle, and Bree Pruitt whom he loved as his own. He had many soccer friends as well as friends in the legal community.

Jesse rarely revealed his soft side, but he had a heart for innocent children and animals, and he professed his love for Jesus. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16.

Memorial contributions may be made to his favorite charity, Paralyzed Veterans of America, National Processing Center, P.O. Box 758593, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8593.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Williams were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

    I played soccer with Jess on Team Beaumont, he was a great guy and very witty, a great athlete and a great caring attorney, he was always in great shape, I talked to him on the phone in 2016 for about an hour, I was planning to visit him in BMT but got tied up in San Antonio, looking back I really would’ve loved to visit him back then, Jess was just an all round Awesome guy, I’ll never forget ya Jess
